In case you missed it, John Rogers, President of SDCC, has died. BOOM! Studios also announced cartoonist Margoux Motrin’s illustrated memoir.

– DC released a list of classic reprints that will now be under the Black Label banner. “Watchmen,” “All-Star Superman,” and “Kingdom Come,” are just a small sample of the many modern classics soon to be reprinted under the adult reprint label over 2019.

– In more “Watchmen” news, actor Tim Blake Nelson revealed to Empire magazine he will playing a character called Looking Glass on the HBO series. “It’s a really interesting, intriguing character,” he said. “I don’t really completely understand him, and that’s intentional. Damon Lindelof metes out facts about your character as you go along […] so I’m learning as I go along who this guy is, and trying to… It’s almost like fresco painting. The clay is always wet.” The series debuts next year.

– Marvel revealed the creative teams for February’s 80th anniversary one-shots: David and Maria Lapham will write and Luca Pizzari will illustrate western revival “The Gunhawks;” “Love Romances” will have many contributors including Dennis Hopeless and Gail Simone; and Frank Tieri and Jacob Chabot will collaborate on “Ziggy Pig and Silly Seal.” You can read the full creative teams on Newsarama.

Avengers: Infinity War took home the Best Movie of 2018 and Best Action Movie trophies at the People’s Choice Awards. Scarlett Johansson won Female Movie Star of 2018, while co-stars Chadwick Boseman and Danai Gurira respectively took home the Male Movie Star and Action Movie Star awards for their performances in Black Panther instead. Riverdale won Best Drama Show, while Wynonna Earp received Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show.

– Marvel is partnering with the Tupac Shakur estate to create Tupac X Black Panther clothing line. “The intersection of music and Black Panther is such of vital part of that property, so it is fantastic to co-brand with an influential artist like 2Pac on a new collection of Marvel apparel,” said Marvel’s Senior VP of Licensing, Paul Gitter.

Beebo fans you’re not alone in wanting merchandise. The Legends of Tomorrow writers happen to love the character too and are directing you to where to petition DC to make some merch.

– There is a distant possibility that actress Michelle Yeoh will star in a Star Trek: Discovery spin-off after Season 2 of the show. According to Deadline she is reportedly in talks for a stand-alone series on CBS All Access following her character in the secretive Section 31 division.

– The wildfires in California have cost a lot of people their homes and sadly lives. Among those affected by this result of climate change is Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson, who lost his home just last week. The director tweeted that “unbelievably,” one of the few items that emerged unscathed from his home was a Doctor Strange action figure. Guillermo del Toro was also forced to evacuate his home.

– In 2001, when Grant Morrison revamped Marvel’s X-Men line, one of the multiple series that launched was written by a mysterious “Writer X.” CBR revealed who that was in this interview with the until-now hidden, pseudonymous, writer.

Esquire humor editor Bob Mankoff launched a site he hopes to make the go-to spot for cartoons. Markoff’s CartoonCollection.com will draw from the large archive at CartoonStock.com, pulling from sources like Esquire, National Lampoon, Playboy and Barron’s.
