In case you missed it yesterday, Marvel announced the “Wolverine: Infinity Watch” miniseries, DC announced a miniseries of its own in “Female Furies,” and Dark Horse Comics and BioWare announced an “Anthem” comic book series. We also of course continue to mourn the passing of Stan Lee who died yesterday at the age of 95.

'Attack on Titan' Volume 26 cover

– Kicking off, the popular manga “Attack on Titan” is set to enter into its final arc soon. The manga’s creator Hajime Isayama had previously stated back in 2014 that he had hoped to wrap the series in about three years. The manga has just collected its 26th volume, which was released in Japan in August and will be released in English by the end of the year. No details yet on how many more chapters will be released or a date for the final chapters.

– The anthology comic “The Good Fight: A Peaceful Stand Against Bigotry and Racism” launched its Kickstarter yesterday and is set to run until December 12th. The 40 story anthology featuring creators like Greg Pak, JH Williams III, Greg Rucka and others started as a reaction to last year’s events in Charlottesville, Virginia, and has grown in purpose and scope since then to be a timeless collection of stories about combatting bigotry. The book is set to ship in April 2019.

– Current “Kick-Ass” creative team Steve Niles and Marcelo Frusin are winding down their first arc on the book with issue #12. To celebrate the conclusion, “Kick-Ass” co-creator John Romita Jr. has contributed a variant cover, continuing the series of cinema-inspired variants. You can check out the cover here, and the issue when it’s released in February 2019.

– More casting news for the DC Universe original series Swamp Thing was announced yesterday with Lost and X-Men Origins: Wolverine alum Kevin Durand set to play Jason Woodrue. Fans of Swampy will recognize the name as that of brilliant scientist and supervillain Floronic Man. While no formal release date has been announced, we can expect Swamp Thing to debut in late spring/early summer of next year.

– In more casting news, Supergirl has signed on Hannah James (Mercy Street) to play Nia Nal’s older sister Maeve, while Kate Burton (Scandal) will guest star as Isabel, Nia’s mother. Nia Nal, played by transgender actress Nicole Maines, is a new series regular this season and will become Dreamer, the first trans superhero on television.

In more television news The CW has announced its midseason premiere dates for the Arrowverse shows and Riverdale, which includes Black Lightning‘s move from Tuesday to Monday nights. The Flash and Riverdale are set to return on Tuesday and Wednesday January 15th and 16th, respectively. The following week, Supergirl returns Sunday the 20th, while Arrow and Black Lightning premiere back to back on Monday the 21st. Legends of Tomorrow will return in April when Black Lightning wraps its second season.

– A new, fully animated Garfield movie is coming to theaters from Emperor’s New Groove director Mark Dindal, with a screenplay from Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgove. “Garfield” creator Jim Davis is set to executive produce the project, which comes from Alcon Entertainment who have acquired the production rights for the character. No release date has been announced.

– Netflix and Archie Comics’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, which recently released its first season, is already gearing up for a holiday special titled, “A Midwinter’s Tale,” which will drop on Friday December 14th. You can check out a trailer for the episode here.

– A portion of the proceeds from the recently released second volume of “Jekyll Island Chronicles” from creators Steve Nedvidek, Ed Crowell, Jack Lowe, Moses Nester, and S.J. Miller are set to be donated through the end of 2018. IDW Entertainment has announced that in honor of Veterans Day, part of the money earned from the book will go towards the completion of the National World War I Memorial in Washington D.C. The graphic novel is on sale now.

– Finally, in honor of the life of Stan Lee, The New York Times ran a tribute comic written by former Marvel mainstay Brian Micheal Bendis, illustrated by Bill Walko, colored by Howie Noel, and edited by George Gustines. You can find the comic, “My Moments With Stan,” here, and more memorial content on our website in the coming days.
