In case you missed it, Vault/Nightfall announced Paul Allor and Paul Tucker’s monster romance “Hollow Heart.”

– Independent publisher Magnetic Press has unveiled the graphic novel “Waluk: The Great Journey.” Via The Hollywood Reporter, “Waluk” hails from Spanish writer Emilio Ruiz and artist Ana Miralles, and fits in with Magnetic Press’s recent environmental and wildlife conservation books like the “Love” series and “Little Tails.” The book follows the titular character, a young polar bear, who travels alongside an older bear named Eskimo, while they attempt to find food and fertile hunting grounds as the world shifts because of climate change. “I have always been interested in the environment and I have been passionate about natural spaces,” Ruiz said. “The goal was always to write a tale that would give the opportunity to reflect on the great tragedy that would be the destruction of some of the richest habitats on earth and provide some hope to the reader.” “Waluk: The Great Journey” is set to hit shelves in February 2021.

– Blur guitarist Graham Coxon is teaming up with Z2 Comics for a new graphic novel — complete with its own soundtrack. Via Rolling Stone, Coxon has recorded an instrumental “soundtrack” of sorts for “Superstate,” a collaboration between Coxon — who serves as co-author and cover illustrator for the book — and a collective of multiple writers and graphic artists. “Superstate” is set in a dystopian society called Yoga Town, where, according to Z2’s description, the 1% “live in a consequence free world where anything goes. Meanwhile, the masses are pacified by a drugged out, government mandated digital dreamscape while they wait to perish on this dying planet.” Joining Coxon as co-writers on the project are Helen Mullane and Alex Paknadel, with artistic contributions from an assortment of artists including Koren Shadmi, Maria Llovet and Soo Lee. Each of the book’s 15 stories will be accompanied by a track recorded by Coxon specifically for the graphic novel, and you can check out an audio preview here. “Superstate” is due out in March 2021.

– More delays have struck the long anticipated “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin.” Via GamesRadar, issue #2 of the five-issue series has been delayed until next year. “The Last Ronin” follows Michaelangelo, the final Ninja Turtle who is haunted by the death of his brothers in a near future New York City that has fallen to the Foot Clan. Originally announced for an August 2020 release, multiple delays pushed the release of the first issue back until October 28—the second issue’s original release date. “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin” #2 was previously pushed back to December 16, but will now reportedly see release on January 27, 2021.

– DC’s mysterious retooled event ‘Generations’ is coming a little more into focus. Via GamesRadar, while the solicitation for January’s “Generations: Shattered” #1 was somewhat vague, the February solicitation for that book’s companion “Generations: Forged” #1 holds more information about what the mini event entails. The books, which feature a time-displaced team of heroes consisting of the 1939 Batman, Kamandi, Steel, Starfire, Sinestro, Booster Gold, and Dr. Light, will also include a previously unnamed hero: Superboy, who appears to be the original teenage Clark Kent version of the character. The solicitation also reveals the previously unnamed villain for the story, a minor Superman villain named Dominus, who hasn’t appeared in comics since being trapped in a Phantom Zone projector in 1999. “Generations: Forged” #1, written by Dan Jurgens, Andy Schmidt, and Robert Venditti with art by Bryan Hitch, Mike Perkins, Bernard Chang, Paul Pelletier, “and others,” will be on sale February 23.

– Though the show has managed to persevere and shoot during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, io9 reports that Doctor Who will see a decreased episode count for its upcoming season. Showrunner Chris Chibnall confirmed the start of production on series 13 on the Doctor Who website, as well as confirming that the additional precautions being taken to ensure the safety of the cast and crew will slow production to the point that only eight episodes of the series will be able to be produced instead of the show’s usual 11. Jodie Whitaker will return as the Doctor for series 13, which is expected to premiere sometime in 2021.

– The Suicide Squad HBO Max spinoff Peacemaker continues to fill out its cast. From Variety, the John Cena-fronted miniseries has added Robert Patrick, Jennifer Holland, and Chris Conrad. Patrick, best known for his turn as Terminator 2: Judgment Day’s T-1000, will portray Auggie Smith, a man likely related to Christopher Smith, a.k.a. The Peacemaker. Holland will reprise her role from The Suicide Squad as NSA agent and Amanda Waller aide Emilia Harcourt, while Chris Conrad will portray the anti-hero Adrian Chase/Vigilante. The series, which also stars Danielle Brooks and Steve Agee, will begin production in early 2021.

– Disney+ has confirmed via a Twitter trailer that the upcoming show WandaVision will arrive in January. The premiere date will make the show the first big Marvel Studios release following the production and release delays caused by COVID-19, as the former 2020 film releases Black Widow and Eternals, as well as fellow Disney+ show The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, were bumped to 2021. This also makes WandaVision into the first official entry in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following the wrap-up of Phase Three with Spider-Man: Far from Home in 2019. WandaVision features stars Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany reprising their roles as Wanda Maximoff and Vision, respectively, alongside returning MCU stars Kat Dennings and Randall Park as well as franchise newcomers Kathryn Hahn and Teyonah Parris. WandaVision premiers on Disney+ on January 15, 2021.

– The CW’s Black Lightning may be getting a spinoff. Via Deadline, the tortured hero Painkiller, portrayed by Jordan Calloway on the show, will reprise his role for a backdoor pilot intended to set up a new series. Painkiller will follow Khalil Payne, a man ridden with the guilt of his troubled past from his former life as a super-enhanced killing machine in Freeland City. After trying to find peace in a new city, Akashic Valley, his violent past comes into conflict with his idyllic new beginning. Interestingly, Berlanti Productions, which produces Black Lightning and all of The CW’s other DC Comics adaptations, is not involved in the spinoff. Black Lightning showrunner Salim Akil will write, executive produce, and direct the backdoor pilot, which will air as the seventh episode of the show’s upcoming season. Season four of Black Lightning premieres in February 2021.

– Finally, the long-running comic strip “Dennis the Menace” (the British one, sorry Americans) is getting a new TV adaptation. Via Deadline, Beano Studios is developing a young adult series with Matthew Berry, a writer on Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Deadline reports that the show will be darker than previous adaptations, featuring a 16-year old Dennis with a tone in line with the British drama Skins. That tone would put the show in line with other recent adaptations of comics like Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Riverdale and Katy Keene that have taken an older, edgier tone compared to their all-ages source material.
