– Dark Horse announced a partnership with James Tynion IV’s imprint Tiny Onion Studios for print editions of comics previously released on Tynion’s Substack, as well as all-new material. A five-issue edition of Tynion and Michael Avon Oeming’s UFO series “Blue Book” will debut in print on February 22, 2023, followed by teenage mad scientist saga “The Oddly Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos” (written with Tate Brombal, and featuring art by Isaac Goodhart) on June 7. The former will also feature Tynion’s ‘True Weird‘ anthology as a back-up. In a follow-up newsletter, Tynion said to expect more titles in the Christopher Chaos universe (or “Chaosverse”) at Dark Horse, and “projects by myself and other creators that will explore short-form and long-form ‘True Weird’ stories.”
– Marvel announced ‘Revenge of the Brood,’ an X-Men and Captain Marvel crossover that will run in this spring’s “X-Men” #19-21 and “Captain Marvel” #46-49. Written by Gerry Duggan and Kelly Thompson with art by Stefano Caselli, Javier Pina, and Sergio Davila, the story will see the X-Men and Carol Danvers come to the aid of the Brood King (formerly Broo) after he calls for help in dealing with rogue factions of his species. The story will kick off in “X-Men” on February 8, and conclude in “Captain Marvel” #49 sometime later next year.
– Via Collider, First Second Books unveiled the cover for “The Books of Clash: Volume 1: Legendary Legends of Legendarious Achievery,” the first graphic novel based on Supercell’s fantasy mobile game Clash of Clans. Written by Gene Luen Yang with art by Les McClaine and Alison Acton, the children’s book will follow the adventures of Hog Rider Terrodicus (or “Terry” for short), and his beloved Hog, Pim Pim. It will be released on May 30, 2023, and you can check out a preview on the newly launched website BooksofClash.com.
– Per Broken Frontier, Graphic Mundi announced their graphic novel releases for Spring/Summer 2023, which include an adaptation of Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet, scripted by A. David Lewis with art by Justin Rentería. A seminal work of Lebanese literature from 1923, The Prophet tells the story of the exiled sage Al Mustafa, as he returns to his homeland, while speaking to his followers on a variety of subjects like life, love, and death. The graphic novelization will be released on June 30.
– Diamond revealed the commemorative artwork for Free Comic Book Day 2023, created by Laura Braga (“Harley Quinn,” Archie’s “Blossoms 666”). The artwork, depicting a Black girl and a white boy reading FCBD-branded comics, will be available as a t-shirt and poster via the December issue of PREVIEWS magazine, releasing next week on Wednesday, November 23.
– Disney announced they will air the first two episodes of Andor on ABC, FX, and Freeform, and make them available on Hulu for a limited time. The episodes will air on ABC on Wednesday, November 23, at 9pm Eastern/Pacific Time, and then FX and Freeform at the same time respectively on Thursday and Friday. They will remain on Hulu until Wednesday, December 7. This will mark the first time a Disney+ Star Wars series has aired on network and cable TV. – Finally, Warner Bros. announced they will release the 1968 animated series The Adventures of Batman on Blu-ray on February 28, 2023. The show, produced by Filmation, ran for 34 episodes, and marked the debut of Olan Soule as Batman, as well as Casey Kasem as Robin, who went on to reprise their roles in Super Friends. The two-disc set will retail for $29.98 in the U.S., and $39.99 in Canada.
