Kicking off, Fox is developing a new X-Men film based on Jamie Madrox’s character Multiple Man to be played by James Franco. Wonder Woman writer Allan Heinberg has been brought on to script the film to be produced by Simon Kinberg, Franco, Dave Franco, and Vincent Jolivette’s Ramona Films. The next X-Men film, The New Mutants hits theaters April 13, 2018.

– Image Comics announced a new comic from artist Esad Ribic (“Secret Wars,” “Marvel Legacy” #1), writer Ivan Brandon (“Black Cloud,” “Drifter”), colorist Nic Klein (“Drifter”), and designer Tom Muller called “VS” about a sci-fi universe in which war has become a spectator sport. This is Ribic’s first creator-owned outing which he has described as a “dream.” “VS” #1 hits stores February 7th, 2018.

– Image also announced another new series from writer Justin Jordan, artist Donal DeLay, colorist Omar Estévez, and letterer Rachel Deering called “Death of Love.” The series follows a person named Philo Harris who gains the ability to see the Cupidae, the creatures responsible for love in the world, and declares war on them chainsaw in hand. The series hits stores, appropriately, February 14th, 2018.

– Marvel revealed today “Powers” #9 and “United States of Murder Inc. Annual” #1, two of Brian Michael Bendis’s creator-owned titles at the company have been completely cancelled. This leaves Marvel’s Icon imprint completely empty of titles. This action follows Bendis’s reveal of his move to DC Comics earlier last week.

– The CW’s next DC live-action date has landed a release date as the first episode of Black Lightning will premiere on the network Tuesday January 16th at 9 PM ET following another DC show, The Flash. This is currently the time slot Legends of Tomorrow has, and that show will return in February on a new night and time.

– Comic writer and artist Ethan Young, known for works like “Nanjing: The Burning City,” “The Battles of Bridget Lee: Invasion of Farfallis,” and “Tails” is getting two new titles at Dark Horse comics in the new year. The first “Life Between Panels: The Complete Tails,” an omnibus collection of his semi-autobiographical webcomic. The second is another volume of “The Battles of Bridget Lee” called “The Miracle Child.” Look for both works next year.

– Dark Horse also announced that they are bringing writer and artist Stephen McCranie’s acclaimed webcomic “Space Boy” to print next year in four separate volumes. “Space Boy” is described as “a coming of age story of a high-school-aged girl who belongs in a different time, a boy possessed by emptiness as deep as space, an alien artifact, mysterious murder, and a love that crosses light years.”

– Dark Horse, Santa Monica Studio, and Sony Interactive Entertainment are also bringing new “God of War” books to stores in 2018. The first book is “The Art of God of War” a companion to the games with art and creator interviews. This book will also be published in a leather-bound limited edition format. Also, a new “God of War” four-issue comic is coming from writer Chris Roberson and artist Tony Parker.

– BOOM! Studios and the creators of the webcomic, “Cyanide & Happiness,” are teaming up for a softcover graphic novel called “Cyanide & Happiness: A Guide to Parenting by Three Guys with No Kids.” Sounds very informative. The 96-page softcover from Kris Wilson, Rob DenBleyker, and Dave McElfatrick will hit stores in April 2018.

– J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell’s Wildstorm/DC property “Danger Girl” has been acquired by Constantin Film who will team with Jeremy Bolt’s Bolt Pictures and Adrian Askarieh’s Prime Universe Films for a film and possible television series. Constantin Films’ Robert Kulzer will produce along with Bolt and Askarieh and Campbell, Hartnell and Constantin’s Martin Moszkowicz have signed on to executive produce.

– The next episode of Batman: The Telltale Series: The Enemy Within, the second season of the game is premiering next Tuesday on November 21st. A new trailer for the episode was released today showing Bruce Wayne undercover in the criminal enterprise of Harley Quinn. You can view the trailer here.

– Finally, let us remember that comics are a freelance industry and with that it’s hard to get access to benefits like health insurance that are not provided through a company. With the possible collapse of the healthcare system of the US and the repeal of the ACA. Jody Houser brought attention today on Twitter to tweets by comic creator Brian Hurtt about the very dilemma. You can find them here.
