The Beat unveiled Dark Horse Comics’ upcoming middle-grade graphic novel anthology, “Tentacle Kitty: Tales Around the Teacup,” by writers John Merritt and Raena Merritt, and artist Jean-Claudio Vinci. The anthology will see the titular cat and supporting cast on a host of different adventures, traveling aboard their rainbow-colored “space whale” called Levia. Tentacle Kitty as a character debuted in 2009, and has featured in a variety of publications since, such as a Dark Horse coloring book and a Tapas webcomic series. “Tentacle Kitty: Tales Around the Teacup” is set to be available in bookstores on April 26, 2022, and comic shops the following day.

– There were six graphic novel deals reported by Publishers Weekly this week, including Knopf’s acquisition of the middle grade-aimed, “Fitting In,” by writer Whitney Leopard and artist Connie Hernandez, which will be about a half-Filipina seventh-grader called Naomi, who loves gym class until she starts struggling with anxiety over her weight; First Second’s deal for “Agents of S.U.I.T.,” a spin-off of the “InvestiGators” series by writers John Patrick Green and Christopher Hastings and artist Pat Lewis; and Algonquin Young Readers’ purchase of the worldwide rights to “Crumble,” by writer Meredith McClaren and artist Andrea Bell. “Crumble” will follow the 10-year-old Emily Dash, a member of a family who can infuse their feelings into their desserts, who starts baking “very dangerous, and addictive, dishes” following a tragedy. “Fitting In” is scheduled for publication in the Fall of 2024, as is “Crumble,” whilst “Agents of S.U.I.T.” is set to debut in 2023. You can see the full details of all of the deals here.

– Crunchyroll revealed a trailer for the upcoming second part of Attack on Titan‘s final season, along with a premiere date of January 9, 2022 for the US, Canada, Europe and more. The debut of the final season’s second part will begin with the 76th episode of the series, called “Judgement.” The series’ source material, a manga of the same name by Hajime Isayama, concluded last April. You can check out the trailer here.

– Sergio Aragonés’s “Groo the Wanderer” is set to be adapted into an animated film following entrepreneur Josh Jones’s acquisition of the series’ animated film and TV rights. The animated film will be produced by Jones’s film company, Did I Err Productions; Jones will serve as an executive producer of the film, as will his Did I Err partner, Scott Nocas. Further details regarding the production have not yet been decided, with THR only detailing that Did I Err “will seek out creative talent who understand Aragonés’ unique vision and characters.” Groo the Wanderer is a fierce barbarian who is successful in battle, but ultimately, as Aragonés describes him, “a nincompoop who ruins everything.” Time frames relating to the adaptation were not detailed.

Da 5 Bloods‘s Delroy Lindo has joined the cast of the upcoming Marvel adaptation, Blade. Lindo’s role in the film has not been specified, though Variety speculated that it could be the character of Blade’s mentor, Jamal Afari. Mahershala Ali is the extent of the cast that Lindo has joined at this time, with Ali set to portray the role of the half-human, half-vampire Eric Brooks, otherwise known as Blade. Bassam Tariq is set to direct the film, with Stacy Osei-Kuffour writing the script. A release date for Blade is not yet known.

Deadline broke the news that Natasha Liu Bordizzo had been cast in the role of Sabine Wren for the upcoming live-action Disney+ series Ahsoka. Bordizzo is set to portray the role opposite Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka, with the latter reprising her role from The Mandalorian. The wider cast for the series is only known to include Hayden Christensen in the role of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, with the nature of his appearances being kept under wraps along with plot details for the series. Ahsoka is set to enter production in March, with a release date not yet set, though it will be exclusive to Disney+.

– Finally, TKO Studios announced that they will be expanding their publishing line up with a new imprint, TKO Rogue, which will be dedicated to novels and illustrated fiction. The first titles to be released under the imprint will be two illustrated novels: Brood X by Joshua Dysart and M.K. Perker, a thriller set against the backdrop of the Red Scare involving the construction of a bomb shelter and “the emergence of a once-in-a-century cicada swarm;” and One Eye Open by Alex Grecian and Andrea Mutti, which will see protagonist Laura and her daughter exploring their heritage after Laura’s mother’s sudden death, only to discover that Laura’s childhood town “is alive with more than just nature.” Both books are set to be released in print and via digital platforms on January 11, 2022. You can see the covers as well as the full press release over at Broken Frontier.
