In case you missed it, we released the first part of our interview with “Greenpoint of View” creator Tony Wolf, and received an exclusive preview from Marvel of next week’s “Old Man Quill” #12.

– Previews World revealed that cartoonist Zao Dao’s “Cuisine Chinoise: 5 Tales of Life and Food” will be released by Dark Horse in English next year. Originally published in French by Editions Mosquito, the comic anthology collects stories which vary in subject, from insects searching for a meal, to a man whose only chance at preserving his family legacy lies in his passion for food. Together, the stories showcase the relationship between Chinese culture and food. “Cuisine Chinoise: 5 Tales of Life and Food” will be released in comic shops on June 10, 2020.
– DC Comics came under fire from Chinese fans for releasing a poster for the upcoming “Dark Knight Returns: The Golden Child,” which they interpreted as being supportive of the ongoing protests for greater democratic freedom in Hong Kong. The poster depicts Batman wielding a Molotov cocktail over the top of text that reads “The Future is Young.” The posts have since been removed from all of DC’s social media profiles, although a screenshot of the poster can be viewed here. “Dark Knight Returns: The Golden Child” is set for release on December 11.
– Writer John Layman released a teaser for a series that is set to be fully announced next week, which appears to be the much anticipated return of his and Rob Guillory’s “Chew.” In recent months, Layman has teased plans for the return of the series, but only now has anything has been shown from the series’ return. “Chew” ended in 2016 with issue #60. You can check out the teaser image here.
– Algerian cartoonist Abdelhamid Amine was detained by a court order following the publication of his cartoons relating to Algeria’s upcoming December 12 presidential election. Many activists have claimed that the seizing of Amine is part of the government’s clampdown on free expression ahead of the election. One of Amine’s cartoons depicts Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaid Salah trying to fit a shoe onto former Prime Minister Abdelmadjid Tebboune. Many people within Algeria believe Tebboune to be the military’s choice for president. Amine will remain in pre-trial detention until the start of his trial, which is expected to be on December 5.
– Students in Nottinghamshire, England, launched a comic book series focused on the life and work of author D.H. Lawrence (Lady Chatterley’s Lover) called “Eastwood Comics.” The series, which was published by SelfMadeHero and was funded in part by the Heritage Lottery Fund, consists of six different issues. “Eastwood Comics” was aimed to get a younger audience to engage with Lawrence’s work and the issues that his work involved, such as censorship and politics. The students’ work is currently on display at the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum in Eastwood.
