– DC have launched a major expansion to their DC Universe Infinite Ultra tier. The expanded titles include over 5,000 issues from Vertigo and DC Black Label, including “Sandman Mystery Theatre,” “Batman: Three Jokers,” “Watchmen,” and “Sheriff of Babylon.” The brand-new Ultra tier is available for a special limited-time introductory price of $99.99 USD a year in the US, which will be available until December 4, 2022, and remains valid as long as your Ultra Annual subscription is in good standing and not cancelled. Current DC Universe Infinite subscribers can upgrade their monthly and annual subscriptions to Ultra. To see a complete list of available titles, head over here.
– Via The Bookseller, HarperCollins Children’s Books have won an auction to acquire author-illustrator Salomey Doku’s debut graphic novel, “Brielle & Bear.” The official synopsis reads, “Brielle is a daydreamy book lover who knows everything there is to know about fairy tales. She is a first-year student at Once Upon a Time University, where she intends to live out her own fairy-tale dream. When she meets Bear, vice-captain of the rugby team, at the bookshop where she works, Brielle’s dream seems to be off to a good start.” But as life gets complicated, Brielle must rewrite all the rules. HCCB will publish the first volume in fall 2024 and the second in spring 2026.
– Via Loudwire, metal band Amon Amarth have partnered with Z2 Comics on “The Great Heathen Army,” a graphic novel and board game based on the album of the same name from earlier this year. Dan Watters will write, while Ario Murti handles art duties, and Montos and Tom Thiel will provide cover art. The book follows a group of Scandinavian Vikings who invade England. The book will also include a foreword from professional WWE Wrestling Hall of Famer and viking devotee, Adam “Edge” Copeland. “The Great Heathen Army” will be available in standard hardcover and deluxe hardcover editions beginning Fall 2023.
– Marvel have released “Strange Tales: Rocket Infinity Comic” #1, from Al Ewing, Ramón F. Bachs, Java Tartaglia and more. The comic takes a deep dive into Rocket’s past on Halfworld narrated by Victor Strange. “Strange Tales: Rocket Infinity Comic” #1 is available now on the Marvel Unlimited app. You can check out a preview here, and read the comic here.
– Via ICv2, Black Panel Press has signed an exclusive distribution deal with Diamond Book Distributors for distribution to the book channel in North America, and internationally, making Diamond the sole distributer for Black Panel Press. Black Panel Press was founded in 2017 by Andrew Benteau, in partnership with Jose Jover of French publisher Tartamudo Editions. The partnership was established with the intent of publishing high-quality indie graphic novels from around the world.
– Finally, friends of veteran writer Peter David have launched a GoFundMe on his behalf. On top of kidney failure, the GoFundMe reports David had a series of strokes, as well as a mild heart attack. Several creators took to Twitter to help spread the word, including Alex Segura, Tim Seeley, and Greg Pak. At the time of writing, $36,829 has been raised of the $40,000 goal.
