In case you missed it, new publisher TKO Studios announced their first titles, Dark Horse announced “Calamity Kate” from Magdalene Visaggio and Corin Howell, Jeff Lemire, Ray Fawkes and Matt Kindt are heading back to WW2 for “Black Hammer ’45,” and Weekly Shonen Jump announced a huge payment structure overhaul. Plus, the latest Avengers trailer dropped.

– Bêlit, the sea captain and Conan the Barbarian’s occasional love interest, will be getting her own origin story when writer Tini Howard and artist Kate Niemczyk’s “Age of Conan: Bêlit” #1 hits stores March 13, 2019. The issue will be one of five, and will include the first chapter of a Bêlit prose novella as well.

– Conan the Barbarian himself is joining Scarlet Witch in “Avengers: No Road Home” #6, set to publish March 20, 2019. The issue will be written by Al Ewing, Mark Waid and Jim Zub, with art by Sean Izaakse and Paco Medina.

– Netflix’s adaption of Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá’s hit Dark Horse comic, “The Umbrella Academy” dropped its first teaser Saturday. The superhero series will star Ellen Page, Mary J. Blige, and Robert Sheehan among others, and premiers Feb. 18.

– In other adaption news, a Plastic Man movie is being developed at Warner Bros., written by Amanda Idoko and executive produced by Bob Shaye. This will be Idoko’s second feature film, her previous credits including the ABC show The Mayor and the film Breaking News in Yuba County, which is still in pre-production.

– In two-part Doctor Who news, Jodie Whittaker’s 13th Doctor will return for a season 12, which isn’t set to premiere until 2020. “I really can’t wait to step back in and get to work again,” Whittaker told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s such an incredible role. It’s been an extraordinary journey so far and I’m not quite ready to hand it over yet.” Doctor Who’s New Year’s special premiers January 1, 2019.

– Artist Marcelo Ferreira, who recently made his Marvel debut with “Spider-Force” #2, is joining Juann Cabal and writer Tom Taylor’s “Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” #1.  The issue drops January 9, 2019. Similarly, Luciano Vecchio is replacing Kevin Libranda as artist for “Ironheart,” starting with “Ironheart” #2. “Ironheart” #2 hits shelves January 16, 2019.

– Jeremy Whitley and Gurihiru’s “Unstoppable Wasp” #4 has been pushed back to January 30, 2019. “Unstoppable Wasp” #5 has been pushed to February 20, as well. According to Newsarama, the publisher didn’t give a reason for the change.

– Kendrick Lamar’s Black Panther: The Album was nominated for album of the year at next year’s Grammy’s. “All the Stars,” from the album, was nominated for record of the year, song of the year, best rap/sung performance and best song written for visual media. Black Panther was also nominated for best score soundtrack for visual media.

– Brian K. Vaughan, best known for his work on “Saga,” “Paper Girls,” “Runaways” and more, signed a three-year deal with Legendary Entertainment. His creator-owned work will be adapted by Legendary as part of the deal, and Vaughan will come up with more projects across “traditional and non-traditional platforms,” according to Deadline.

– The latest installment of Skybound Games’ The Walking Dead: The Final Season, titled “Broken Toys,” drops January 15, 2019. After “Broken Toys,” only one installment is left of the hugely popular Walking Dead game series.
