Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.
– First up, Deadline has reported that James Wan’s Aquaman has cast its Ocean Master in America’s favourite dad, Patrick Wilson. A villainous role like this is something we’re not used to seeing from Wilson, but with the brotherly ties to Aquaman, I can see him playing off that pretty well.
– Next up, Tom Taylor talked about the next arc of “All New Wolverine” and Wolverine’s new costume to… Gamespot, of all places. While it’s not the worst new costume in the world, it is pretty much just her previous costume in the old X-Force grey and black. I’m not expecting this to stick around for very long.
– Entertainment Weekly has the news that Archie Comics will be expanding it’s rebooted line with four one shots. With creators like Matthew Rosenberg, Frank Tieri, Michael Walsh and Katie Cook on board, these sound like they could be pilots for new ongoing series. At least, I hope so in “Sabrina The Teenage Witch”‘s case.
– Check out the full solicitations for Free Comic Book Day 2017. Obviously, this doesn’t include Marvel and DC’s Top Secret solicits because we don’t yet know what summer events those will be hyping up. Still, there’s some interesting stuff in there like… James Cameron’s Avatar? What year is it?
– Finally, remember how I got mad at the Transformers trailer last week because it teased that Optimus Prime would be a bad guy? Well, check out the new trailer for The Fate Of The Furious which is the exact same trailer except the cars pulling crazy, explosive stunts and wooden robots are actually separate beings. God, this movie looks so dumb… I can’t wait to see it.
