– Dwayne McDuffie Award-winning writer Nilah Magruder and artist Roberto Di Salvo (“Marvel Adventures Spider-Man”) will be launching a new “Marvel Rising” miniseries to tie in with the budding Marvel Rising animation franchise. Newsarama has more details on the five-issue miniseries, which will feature all your Marvel Rising faves and debut in March 2019.

– Former Valiant Executive Editor Joe Illidge announced that he’s moving into freelance editing, via an open letter published at The Hollywood Reporter. Illidge’s departure is one of a couple of significant editorial moves Valiant’s made this week.

– Author Jonathan Hickman teased the 2019 release dates for his Image series, including the start of “Black Monday Murders” and “East of West”‘s final arcs. According to Hickman, “Black Monday Murders” will resume in April, “East of West” will resume in May, and his other series are still TBD.

ComicBook.com shared a first look at “Bad Luck Chuck,” a new Dark Horse miniseries that will focus on a protagonist who hires her “bad luck powers” out to opportunistic criminals. The March-debuting series will be written by Lela Gwenn (“Where We Live”) and drawn by Matthew Dow Smith (“Dead Kings”).

– On the heels of their recent deals with Jeff Lemire and Brian K. Vaughan, Legendary Entertainment announced they’ll also be bringing Kelly Sue DeConnick and Matt Fraction’s creations to television. Deadline broke the news that Legendary TV secured a two-year overall deal with the couple’s company Milkfed Criminal Masterminds, and plan to adapt many of their series for TV.

Newsarama talked to “Berlin” author Jason Lutes about the conclusion of that series and the beginning of his next project, “Arizona 1865.” Lutes remained tight-lipped about the story, but did offer hints at what aspects of Arizona history interested him.

– Flame Con, the largest LGBTQ comic convention in the world, revealed its 2019 convention dates at SYFY Wire. Flame Con 2019 will take place Aug. 17-18 at the Times Square Sheraton Hotel in New York City.

– First Second will release Jorge Aguirre and Rafael Rosado’s “Call Me Iggy,” a middle-grade graphic novel about a Columbian-American teen who enlists the aid of his grandparents’ ghosts to help win over his crush, in 2021. Publishers Weekly has slightly more on the book.

– The Excelsior Awards, the UK graphic novel and manga awards in which teens decide the winners, announced their 2019 awards shortlists. You can view the shortlists here.

– And finally, DC Universe’s Stargirl has cast Lou Ferrigno Jr. (who, yes, is the son of The Incredible Hulk‘s Lou Ferrigno) as Hourman and Brian Stapf as Wildcat, adding to a cast that includes Community‘s Joel McHale as Starman and School of Rock‘s Brec Bassinger as Stargirl.
