In case you missed it, DC Comics have announced “Batman/Superman: World’s Finest” by Mark Waid and Dan Mora, while Marvel have announced “Strange,” in which Clea is the new Sorcerer Supreme.

"The Ghost in You"

– Image Comics have announced “The Ghost in You,” the next “Reckless” book from the creative team of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips. With Ethan Reckless out of town, the official description reads “Anna has to tackle the job on her own. When a movie scream queen asks her to prove the mansion she’s renovating isn’t haunted, Anna will stumble into the decades-long mystery of one of Hollywood’s most infamous murder houses… a place with many dark secrets — some of which might just kill her.” “The Ghost in You: A Reckless Book” will be available in comic book stores on Wednesday, April 13, and in bookstores on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

– The Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) Committee has selected the eleven Gold Sponsor comic book titles for the annual event. FCBD will return to its traditional “First Saturday in May” event date in 2022, with the celebration set to take place at local comic shops across the US on Saturday, May 7, 2022. The Gold Sponsor titles include Image Comics’ “The Bone Orchard Mythos Prelude,” from the creative team of Jeff Lemire, Andrea Sorrentino, and Dave Stewart, which will officially kick off Lemire and Sorrentino’s line of interconnected comics series and original graphic novels. The sypnosis reads, “A troubled writer books a secluded cabin on a serene lake in an attempt to get away from his troubled marriage and looming deadlines. But what he doesn’t know when he arrives is that he is already in the cabin. In fact, he may have always been there.” Other publishers getting a Gold Sponsor title are Archie, AWA, BOOM! Studios, Dark Horse, Graphix/Scholastic, IDW, Kodansha Comics, Marvel Comics, Titan Comics, and Viz Media. FCBD’s Silver Sponsor books will be revealed Thursday, December 16.

– Via The Beat, Rebellion have announced “Best of 2000 AD,” a quarterly series of six 299-page graphic novels. It’s described as “an ultimate ‘mix-tape’ anthology” aimed at readers who may never have picked up “2000 AD” in its traditional format. Each volume will be designed by Tom Muller and includes a self-contained contemporary Judge Dredd adventure, stories from the “2000 AD vaults,” and another full length story by creators including Sean Philips, Frank Quitely, Fraser Irving, Kevin O’Neill, Mick McMahon, Pete Milligan, Rob Williams, Al Ewing, Alan Moore, Alan Davis and more. There will also be new critical essays by prominent comics journalists and popular culture writers, including Tom Shapira, Chloe Maveal, Rosie Knight, Ritesh Babu, Tiffany Babb, and Adam Karenina Sherif. Finally, each volume has a cover from an artistic star, including Jamie McKelvie, Becky Cloonan, Charlie Adlard, Erica Henderson, and Annie Wu, with more to be announced. The first volume is scheduled for release in September 2022, with subsequent volumes releasing quarterly.

– Via IGN, Dark Horse have announced that Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s “We Have Demons” is coming to print in 2022. Dark Horse Comics will reprint the series as a monthly limited series, followed by a trade paperback collection. Each print issue will include bonus material not seen in the digital versions, along with new variant covers from frequent Snyder collaborators like Jock, Francis Manapul and Francesco Francavilla. So far, “We Have Demons” is the only one of Snyder’s comiXology Originals projects to be confirmed for a print release. “We Have Demons” #1 will be released in print on March 23, 2022, with the trade to follow on August 9, 2022.

– Via a press release, Grim Oak Press has partnered with New York Times-bestselling author of The Kingkiller Chronicle Patrick Rothfuss to create a new imprint, Underthing Press. The first project Grim Oak Press and Underthing Press will produce is “Digger: The Complete Collection” by Ursula Vernon. The deal includes new softcover and hardcover editions of the Hugo Award-winning graphic novel, as well as signed and limited copies. Rothfuss has written a new foreword for the book, and will sign the limited and lettered editions along with Vernon. Rothfuss discussed the partnership on his Twitch channel.

– Via Collider, Dreamworks has released the first look trailer for The Bad Guys, based on the Scholastic series of books by Aaron Blabey. The movie follows notorious criminals Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Mr. Piranha, Mr. Shark and Ms. Tarantula as they face their most challenging job yet: trying to turn good. Sam Rockwell leads a cast featuring Marc Maron, Craig Robinson, Anthony Ramos and Awkwafina. The Bad Guys is scheduled to be released in theaters on April 22, 2022. Check out the trailer here.

– Also via Collider, Nickelodeon and Paramount+ announced an animated series, based on the “Big Nate” stories by author and cartoonist Lincoln Peirce, is coming to the streaming service next year. Besides announcing the new show, Paramount+ also revealed the full voice cast for Big Nate’s animated series: it includes Ben Giroux as Nate Wright, Dove Cameron as Ellen Wright, Rob Delaney as Martin Wright, Bryce Charles as Dee Dee Holloway, Daniel MK Cohen as Francis Pope, Arnie Pantoja as Teddy Ortiz, Charlie Schlatter as Chad Applewhite, Kevin Michael Richardson as Principal Nichols, and Carolyn Hennesy as Mrs. Godfrey. Big Nate will premiere exclusively on Paramount+ in early 2022.

– Via The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix is teaming up with Legendary and AfterShock Media for God Country, the feature adaptation of Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw’s Image Comics series. Jim Mickle, co-creator and showrunner of Netflix’s Sweet Tooth, is set to direct and co-write the script with Cates. God Country follows Emmet Quinlan, an old widower afflicted by dementia and violent outbursts. When a tornado hits his West Texas town, Quinlan is rejuvenated thanks to an enchanted sword called Valofax.

– Finally, via ComicBook.com, actor Joji Yanami passed away December 3, 2021 at the age of 90. Yanami is best known for working on Dragon Ball, as he began narrating the original anime in 1986. He went on to narrate Dragon Ball Z and even returned for Dragon Ball Super and several films. Yanami had also worked on Astro Boy, GeGeGe no Kitaro, Inuyasha, and more. Our condolences go to Yanami’s family and friends.
