In case you missed it, DC announced two new ”Batman” series, and Marvel announced a “Carnage” ongoing.

– Artist and writer Nick Dagotta (“East of West”) will join co-writer Caleb Goellner (“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: New Animated Adventures”) to helm “Ghost Cage,” a three-issue sci-fi series at Image about megacorps and their monstrous creations. It takes place after a terrorist attack on a power plant owned by a scientist who revolutionized and monopolized Earth’s energy production; he responds by sending “his ultimate creation (and an adequate employee) in to destroy his most monstrous secrets.” Each issue will be an extended 44 pages, with screentoned black-and-white art. Issue #1 hits shops on March 23, 2022.

– “Zombies Vs. Robots” is returning with a brand new remastered print edition. “ZvRC: Zombies Vs. Robots Classic,” from original creators Chris Ryall and Ashley Wood, will consist of four issues, each featuring new covers from Wood, and additional content. Issue #1 will feature the 26 page ‘Which Came First?’ origin story, an original backup story, and three variant covers. The books will be published by Image and Syzygy Publishing (Ryall and Wood’s imprint.) “ZvRC: Zombies Vs. Robots Classic” #1 will be available in comic shops and digitally on March 30.

– “Lumberjanes” co-creator Shannon Watters has joined with debut writer Branden Boyer-White for queer YA romance graphic novel “Hollow,” a modern day riff on Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The story will follow descendants of the original cast, such as Isabel “Izzy” Crane and Vicky Van Tassel, and the legend of the Headless Horseman itself. The book will be released as part of BOOM! Studios’s BOOM! Box imprint. Berenice Nelle will provide art, with Kaitlyn Musto on colors. It is scheduled for a September 2022 release.

– Asmodee’s card game Spot It! is getting an original graphic novel adaptation from Ablaze. Written by Derek Fridolfs (“Secret Hero Society,” “Batman Tales: Once Upon a Crime”) with art by Gabriele Bagnoli (BOOM!’s “Steven Universe”), the OGN follows Dobbly, the game’s hand-shaped mascot, and a cast of similar looking allies and enemies. The book is due out Summer 2022.

– Marvel tweeted teasers for two upcoming X-Men titles, in anticipation of April’s ‘Destiny of X’ event. Tini Howard and Bob Quinn will handle the upcoming “Knights of X,” with the publisher teasing “a new quest of mutants and magic.” Benjamin Percy and Robert Gill will be on “X-Force,” exploring what monstrous things lurk under Krakoa.

– David F. Walker and Sean Damien Hill’s “The Hated” has been acquired by Netflix. Emmy-nominated writer Michael Starrbury (When They See Us, Colin in Black & White) will executive produce the potential live-action western series, along with Prime Universe Film’s Adrian Askariah, Sean Owolo, and Walker himself. This will be the third Walker comic adaptation in development behind “Bitter Root” and DC’s “Naomi.” Published by Walker’s Solid Comix, “The Hated” follows Araminta Free, a Black bounty hunter in a reality where the American Civil War ended with a truce, and the United States remains separated.

Slugfest, the ten-part docu-series exploring the rivalry between Marvel and DC, has a release date. The series, produced by the Russo Brothers (Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame) for Roku, will debut on The Roku Channel on December 24. The Russos announced at NYCC that Clerks director Kevin Smith will narrate each part, with Anthony Russo commenting “when I hear [Smith’s voice], I know I’m gonna hear fresh, creative, innovative thoughts on all of my favorite subjects.”

– The Marvel HQ YouTube channel unveiled an exclusive teaser for the upcoming animated series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. The teaser is introduced by cast member and executive producer Laurence Fishburne, who calls the unveiling “a special holiday treat.” The series is expected to debut February 2022.

– Finally, Dark Horse has teamed up with the Oregon Office of Emergency Management to publish “Without Warning! Wildfire,” a guide to emergency preparedness in regards to wildfires. Writer Paul Tobin and artist David Hahn handle creative duties for the book, the third in a series about disaster preparedness in the Pacific Northwest aimed toward teens and young adults (an audience slightly older than Smokey the Bear’s demographic.) “Without Warning! Wildfire” can be read on Dark Horse Digital or the OEM’s website.
