In case you missed it, DC announced “Future State: Superman: Worlds of War” writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson will take over the monthly Superman titles this coming March, as well as the weekly, digital-first title “Sensational Wonder Woman.” Our Festival of Lightsabers giveaways and Year in Review also continued, so remember to check them out.

– Beta Ray Bill will get his own solo series at Marvel this coming March. Spinning directly out of the publisher’s ‘King in Black’ event, and the mighty Korbinite’s recent return in Donny Cates and Nic Klein’s “Thor,” the new “Beta Ray Bill” series will see Bill seek out a weapon to replace Stormbreaker, after it was destroyed by the Allfather. Daniel Warren Johnson will handle both writing and art of the series, with Mike Spicer providing colors. A special oversized debut issue will feature a conversation between Johnson and Beta Ray Bill creator Walt Simonson, who provides an exclusive variant cover as well.

– DC announced a new six-issue anthology series titled “Superman: Red & Blue.” The series is named for the only two colors featured in each of multiple stories per issue, with the first featuring creative talent such as Brandon Easton, Jill Thompson, and Wes Craig. Gary Frank, Lee Bermejo, and Yoshitaka Amano will each provide covers for the first issue. “Superman: Red & Blue” #1 hits shelves on March 9.

– Artist Gotou Keisuke announced on Twitter that he will draw “One OP Joker,” a manga series written by Miyakawa Satoshi and overseen by DC Comics. The story will follow Gotham’s Clown Prince of Crime and his attempts to raise a child. The story will be serialized in seinen manga magazine Morning starting on January 1, 2021.

– Upcoming series “Destiny, NY” will see publisher Black Mask Studios return to monthly comics. The company spent the last year focusing on collected editions and trades as their main market. Not only will “Destiny, NY” be the company’s return to monthlies, it will also be the company’s first open-ended series. Written by Pat Shand (“Snap Flash Hustle”) with art by Manuel Preitano (“The Oracle Code”), the book follows grown-up child hero Logan, as she’s pulled back into the world of magic by a new relationship. The book hits shelves in March 2021 with a cover from “Strangers in Paradise” creator Terry Moore.

– The “F*ck Off Squad” creative team of writer Dave Baker and artist Nicole Goux (joined by colorist Ellie Hall) will reunite for Dark Horse’s “Everyone is Tulip.” The original graphic novel follows Becca, an aspiring actress who takes part in an experimental art project. When the project goes viral, the flood of public attention reshapes her entire life. “Everyone is Tulip” will be released in comic shops on June 16th, 2021, and in bookstores June 29.

– Cindy Moon, better known Marvel’s websingling Silk, returns with a new self-titled series in March 2021. Writer Maurene Goo and artist Takeshi Miyazawa’s comic will see Moon fighting street thugs and demons while working for J. Jonah Jameson new media venture, Threats & Menaces. The series launches amidst rumors of a Silk TV series from Sony, suggested to be part of a Netflix’s Defenders-styled shared universe of Spider characters. “Silk” #1 was originally slated for July 2020, but COVID-19 delays pushed it back to the following year. You can read our original coverage of the series here.

– Writer Tom King and artist Clay Mann’s “Batman/Catwoman” #4 will feature a redesigned Huntress, according to King’s Twitter. The DC Black Label series, set across multiple time periods, sees Helena Wayne far in the future, attempting to solve her father Bruce’s murder with her mother Selena. The new costume reflects both her parentage and the far future setting, resembling a high tech fusion of the Batman and Catwoman costumes. “Batman/Catwoman” #4 is scheduled for a March 2021 release.

– Urban Legends Media, LLC has announced the launch of their inaugural title. “Sheriff Wright” follows Marva Wright, an escaped slave deputized as sheriff in a town called Freedom, as she battles to maintain order in Reconstruction-era Arkansas. The book is written by Jason Medley (“Joe & Max”), with art by Jethro Morales (“Dejah of Mars,” “Flying Sparks”), colors by Jason Scott Jones, and lettering by Zen. “Sheriff Wright fulfills the primary goal of Urban Legends Media,” Medley says of the project. “We want to create properties with multicultural protagonists. People of color as heroes. And there’s never been a western title with a hero like Sheriff Marva Wright.” The book will be available on Urban Legends’s website on February 17, 2021.

– Announced via the NX Twitter account, Netflix will produce a live-action adaptation of “Yu Yu Hakusho.” Based on the classic manga by Yoshihiro Togashi, the series will follow young Yusuke Urameshi as he embarks “on a journey across the world of humans, spirits and demons to return to the land of the living.” The series will be produced by Robot Communication’s Akira Morii, and executive produced by Netflix Contents Acquisition Director Kazutaka Sakamoto. No casting information or premiere date have been announced.

– Finally, The Americans star Matthew Rhys is developing a TV adaptation of Dark Horse Comics’s “Wyrd” for FX. The plot follows an alien named “Wyrd” who, when abandoned on Earth, is forced to blend in with the people he was initially sent to research. He soon finds himself investigating the paranormal. Rhys is executive producing with his wife, fellow Americans star Keri Russell, and plans to star as Wyrd. No premiere date has been announced. “Wyrd,” from writer Curt Pires and artist Antonio Fuso, was originally released last year.
