In case you missed it, Image released “American Jesus: The New Messiah” #1, Rebellion have announced “Zombie Army: Last Rites,” a five-part comic that will begin in “Judge Dredd Magazine” #416, and writer/artist Troy Nixey talked the upcoming hardcover release of “Trout: The Hollowest Knock.”

– Skybound announced “Stealth,” a new series from writer Mike Costa, artist Nate Bellegarde, and colorist Tamra Bonvillain, starring the Detroit-based superhero Robert Kirkman and Marc Silvestri created for Top Cow’s ‘Pilot Season’ in 2014. The company also announced Lee Daniels (Precious, The Butler) has signed on to direct a film version, written by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Iron Man, Cowboys & Aliens). A release date for the film has not yet been announced, but the comic debuts in March.

– Dark Horse Comics announced their newest series, “Starship Down” by Justin Giampaoli (“Thirteen Minutes”) and Andrea Mutti (“Rebels”) with colorist Vladimir Popov and letterer Sal Cipriano. The book is a sci-fi drama that follows a cultural anthropologist, Jocelyn Young, who finds an extraterrestrial aircraft in Siberia, and her journey as she founds out how it got there. “Starship Down” #1 hits comic stores on March 18, 2020.

“Marvels Snapshot: Fantastic Four,” the second installment of Marvel’s recently announced “Snapshot” series, will be written by Evan Dorkin and Sarah Dyer, with art by Benjamin Dewey (“The Autumnland,” “Beasts of Burden”). This installment will take readers into the Silver Age and aim the spotlight at the Fantastic Four’s Human Torch. The story will focus on Johnny Storm’s ten-year high school reunion through the eyes of his ex-girlfriend, Dorrie Evans. “Marvels Snapshot: Fantastic Four” will be available in March 2020.

– “The Magnificent Ms. Marvel” #13 is introducing a brand new superhero into the Marvel Universe: Amulet, aka Fadi Fadlalah. The Arab-American superhero was co-created by writer Saladin Ahmed and Jordanian-American illustrator, Sara Alfageeh, who was inspired to become an illustrator after reading “Ms. Marvel” Vol. 1. Amulet will be making his Marvel debut when “The Magnificent Ms. Marvel” #13 hits comic shelves in March 2020.

– It has been announced that Warner Bros.’s Birds of Prey has been rated R by the MPAA, making it the first film in the interconnected DC film universe to be given the rating. Birds of Prey is the third film based on DC characters overall to be given an R rating, following 2009’s Watchmen, and this year’s Joker. The movie will hit theaters on February 7, 2020.

– The CW has announced when their series will be returning from their midseason breaks. Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will both air on January 14th, closing out the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event. Arrow will then return one week later on January 21st for its series finale, while DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will return for its season premiere. Batwoman and Supergirl will return January 19th, Black Lightning will return January 20th, and The Flash will return February 4th.

– The feature-length, animated film Superman: Red Son will be available digitally starting February 25, 2020, and on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on March 17, 2020. The film will also include the new DC Showcase animated short, Phantom StrangerSuperman: Red Son, based on DC’s ‘Elseworlds’ tale from 2003, takes place in an alternate reality where baby Kal-El crash lands in Stalinist Russia. Superman: Red Son is produced and directed by Sam Liu.

– Director Lee Eung-bok (Mr. Sunshine) is set to adapt the Korean Webtoon comic “Sweet Home” as a Netflix series. “Sweet Home,” created by Carnby Kim and YoungChan Hwang, follows high school student Cha Hyeon-su after he loses his parents, and moves into an apartment where he begins to experience a world that turns people into monsters that reflect their desires.

– It was also announced that Netflix and Mattel Television are producing a new CG animated take on He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. The series was developed for television by Rob David (who wrote DC’s revamp of the franchise), and follows a young lost prince as he discovers the powers of Grayskull and transforms into He-Man. It marks the latest collaboration between Netflix and Mattel, following She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, and the upcoming Kevin Smith-produced Masters of the Universe: Revelation.
