– It’s a big year for Star Wars next year as 2017 marks the 40th anniversary of the first film in the franchise. To celebrate, Marvel is publishing a series of variant covers that honour some of the most iconic moments from the film. Take a look.
– Joshua Williamson and Mike Henderson’s “Nailbiter” has been a staple of Image Comics’ line for the past two years as one of its best horror comics. Now, it’s coming to an end with #30 and CBR has an exclusive interview with Williamson to discuss it.
– DC Comics’ solicitations for March 2017 dropped last night and while we’ll talk about them more in depth in the coming weeks, one thing that caught my attention was the crossover between “Superman” and “Action Comics” that will finally delve more into the origins of this dimension-hopping Superman. Sounds cool.
– It’s something we’ve assumed for a while now, but Taika Waititi has confirmed that Thor: Ragnarok will feature the planet Sakaar as part of its Hulk plot. I don’t know how the film will manage to squeeze in a whole subplot about Planet Hulk while also being about Ragnarok, but I can’t wait to find out as Waititi also mentions that the film will be heavily influenced by the designs of Jack Kirby.
– Are you excited for the new Power Rangers movie and just can’t wait for more? Well… at least someone is. IGN announced that BOOM! Studios is publishing a graphic novel follow up to the film just five days after its release in cinema. It will be written by Ryan Parrott and Lucas Werneck.
– Finally, two pretty intriguing trailers dropped yesterday that aren’t necessarily comic book related, but that you’ll probably want to watch. The first is that first look at Denis Villeneuve’s follow up to Ridley Scott’s classic, Blade Runner 2049. It looks cool and has lots of neon and sepia tones. What more can you ask? The next is the full trailer for John Wick Part 2, which might be the best movie ever made.
