Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown of comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.
– Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is getting its own digital spinoff, based around Slingshot, aka Elena”Yo-Yo” Rodriguez, one of the Inhumans on the show. With the Inhumans arc likely taking a backseat before next year’s Inhumans television series next year, the six episode series will likely bridge the gap between the first half of the season and the start of the next. The first episode debuts on December 13.
– James Robinson and Carlos Pacheco are the creative team behind a new “Cable” series, spinning out of “InsurrXion.” The series focuses on the character’s time traveling adventures, and drops in the Spring.
– Archie Comics has joined the DC/IDW “Love is Love” anthology that honors the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando. Kevin Keller, the openly gay Archie character, as well as Archie Andrews himself, will appear in two stories in the anthology, from Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Stephen Byrne, and Dan Parent.
– Van Williams, the star of Green Hornet, the 1960’s TV series that also starred Bruce Lee, passed away at the age of 82. For many comics fans, they may have only seen Williams play the role when the Green Hornet and Kato showed up on Batman in its second season episode, “A Piece of the Action.”
– And, finally, “The Kamandi Challenge” #1 is growing considerably, both in size and cost, by including three reprinted issues of the original series, two of which were never published under the “Kamandi” title, but rather the “Cancelled Comics Cavalcade” series.
