Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown of comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.
– Jim Rugg, one of the best cartoonists working today, has set up a Patreon for his new “Street Angel” stories. If you haven’t read “Street Angel,” you’re missing out. He’s looking for $200 a month as the first tier, and has already reached $100, but let’s send that through the roof, shall we? The $2000 a month goal sounds pretty dope (2 full color pages a week), so let’s get him to that.
– Nick Lowe, Marvel executive editor, now has a new title to add to his business card: Vice President for Content, Digital Publishing. According to Bleeding Cool, this means that Lowe will be taking more of a hand in both the digital Infinite Comics, as well as Disney XD’s “Video Comics.” Congrats, Nick!
– Ted Adams, CEO of IDW, talked to CBR about how 2016 was the best year in IDW history, and it is hard to argue with that.
– Could Tom King and Mitch Gerards be working on a 12 issue “Legion of Super-Heroes” book? Bleeding Cool seems to think so. Personally? I think DC is going to want a longer running “Legion” title, but I’m no soothsayer.
– The Star Wars Rebels mid-season trailer dropped today, and boy howdy do I (and Alice W. Castle) wish they saved Darth Maul vs. Obi-Wan for a Ewan McGregor stand-alone film.
– Is DC moving towards shorter story arcs? Lord, I hope so!
– And, finally, why did Michael Keaton not to Batman Forever: “The script sucked.”
