Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.
– In what can only be concluded as George Lucas trying to sabotage a non-Lucas scripted Star Wars feature, Harrison Ford reportedly injured his ankle on the Episode VII set yesterday. Reports are saying the injury is not serious enough to delay production, thankfully. If you see a man with a thousand chins walking calming in one direction while the rest of London runs in the other, stop that man!
– Michael Keaton is one of my favorite actors, and his new film, Birdman is about a former comic-book movie star (sound familiar?) who is now acting on Broadway, much to his chagrin. File this under “must see.”
– Justin Jordan took to his blog to discuss the importance of single issues in the lives of creator-owned/independent publishing. It is a fascinating and important read.
– Marvel is promising a lot of fun from “Spider-Verse” – editor Nick Lowe talked to Newsarama about “Edge of Spider-Verse,” the look at many of the alternate Spideys throughout the multiverse and, I must admit, it is starting to sell me on this event.
– The new Transformers series features a team led by Bumblebee, alongside some new creations. Is this, as Topless Robot proclaimed it, “Transformers Babies?”
– Warner Bros. and Mattel have renewed their partnership, signing a deal that allows Mattel produce toy tie-ins to the Justice League films, as well as 2016’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
– The True Believer Comics Awards (formerly the Eagle Awards) nominations are out, and they are suspiciously missing one certain website. If you’re inclined, go vote (and if you have an Eisner vote and haven’t voted yet, you can still do so!)
