Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.
– Big congratulations are in order for the team behind “Action Philosophers,” “The Comic Book History of Comics,” and “Action Presidents,” Fred Van Lente and Ryan Dunlavey, as they have just inked a four book deal with Harper Collins to bring “Action Presidents” to print. The series, of which only the first issue is yet available, is set to debut in 2017, with the first two books dropping that year.
– Kris Anka and Kevin Wada were working on a new Marvel Swimsuit book but, alas, it has been cancelled. These books were always interesting curiosities (especially for the pre-teen Brian of the early 90s), and it is a shame that Marvel isn’t going through with this one, as both Anka and Wada are fantastic artists.
– In what can only be described as surreal, the new Batman Vs. Robin animated feature will have Kevin Conroy providing the voice of Thomas Wayne, not Bruce, as he has done so many times in the past. In addition, everyone’s favorite comedy recording artist “Weird Al” Yankovic will be voicing the Dollmaker in the film. Much of the cast from last year’s Son of Batman film will be returning as well.
– The writers of “Grayson” promise that, when the series returns after “Convergence,” there will be a shift in the status quo, an ending to the cliff-hanger that will drop in March, and some “special” elements dealing with the fact that 2015 is Dick’s 75th anniversary.
– Farrago is an app that is attempting to be the “Spotify of comics,” and took a big step towards that goal today with the announcement that IDW will be bringing a number of their #1s to the app for free this month.
– Good news for those who like their Smoaks of multiple generations: Charlotte Ross, who portrayed Felicity’s mom, Donna, earlier this season will return for the 18th episode of the year.
– And, finally, for when you really want to place your money on black – a Batman-themed casino is set to open in China.
