– File this under “piece of shit.” After creating an Instagram video using uncredited artwork by Rebecca Mock – a Brooklyn based cartoonist currently working on an OGN with Hope Larsen – musician Diplo took to Twitter, letting forth a spew of misogynist hate and sexually inappropriate language. I won’t type what he said here, and the tweets have since been deleted, but Diplo clearly has no idea how copyright works, and only credited Mock after she reached out.

– Marvel Studios is searching for high school aged actors to play Spider-Man when he appears in Captain America: Civil War. Two names being considered are Teen Wolf‘s Dylan O’Brien and Logan Lerman from the Percy Jackson franchise. While I understand the idea that Spidey works best as a younger character, this probably means we’re going to get yet another origin story. Since 2001, we’ve seen Uncle Ben shot twice on screen – since 1978, we’ve seen Pa Kent die on screen twice. Can we cut it with all the father figure deaths that we clearly already know? Also, and not to get off on a rant here, but what does 17 year old Spidey’s opinion on the Superhero Registration Act matter anyway?

– Speaking of Spidey, he will be starring in three upcoming one-shots written by Jimmy Kimmel Live writer Jeff Loveness, alongside Falcap and the Inhumans. “Amazing Spider-Man Special” #1 will be illustrated by Luca Pizzari – the artists for “Inhumans Special” #1 and “All-New Captain America Special” #1 have bot yet been announced.

– One more Spidey tidbit: Mike Costa (or, Mike Costs as Newsarama credits him) and Andre Aruajo are bringing Spider-Verse to a new book spinning out of “Secret Wars,” taking place on Battleworld. All of that will be much more exciting when we actually know what Battleworld will entail, storywise.

– “New Suicide Squad” gets a new lineup, post-‘Covergence,’ and it is a pretty interesting one: Parasite, Black Hand, Reverse Flash, Poison Ivy, Cheetah, and an Owl from the Court of Owls. I wonder if the ‘regular’ cast is getting a break before being relaunched yet again around the time of the film’s first trailer dropping.

– Speaking of that film, Will Smith and Margot Robbie want you to know that it’s cool, babies – they’ll get the right Rick Flagg. And why has it taken so long? God damn Christmas, that’s why. Someone get Papa Bear O’Reilly on the phone – this is the real war on Christmas.

– Ken Nolan, who wrote the screenplay for Black Hawk Down is working on a feature film adaptation of “The Activity” by Nathan Edmonson and Mitch Gerads.

– She had a ‘take a pee break or look at the nutritional information on your Snocaps’ and you’ll miss it cameo in Man of Steel, but it apears that “Carrie” Farris, a soldier who appeared in the film, will be back for more DC film action. Could this be Carol Farris, before dropping a nickname? We shall see.

– Not really a surprise, but “Injustice: Year Four” is coming.

– And, finally, who needs flowers/chocolate/fancy date nights when you can have DC Valentine’s Day cards, amirite? See y’all on OK Cupid after this goes horribly wrong!
