Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.
– The cover for “Civil War” #0 has been revealed, and over at the Washington Post, Axel Alonso talked more about the series. What is most interesting to me are the four characters chosen on the cover – Iron Man, Captain Marvel, She-Hulk, and War Machine. While Captain Marvel appears to be taking the place of Steve Rogers in this event, the involvement of War Machine and She-Hulk, as of now, are unclear, though it seems that She-Hulk, being an attorney, would fall on Cap’s side, so maybe the event is the Iron Men versus the ladies? Or perhaps that is what they want us to think and is really the opposite. Would War Machine defect? I guess we’ll find out in a few months.
– Sony has hired writer Jesse Wigutow (the as yet unmade The Crow sequel) to pen the adaptation of “Descender,” the Jeff Lemire/Dustin Nguyen joint from Image Comics. Wigutow isn’t exactly a huge name, but Sony must see something in him beyond his short film Ugly Naked People.
– Comics Alliance has an exclusive preview of “Black,” the new graphic novel by Kwanza Osajyefo, Tim Smith, and Jamal Igle, and boy does it look special. Check it out here.
– Comedian Steve Agee, who many will know from The Sarah Silverman Program, reportedly has a part in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Agee is a distractingly tall man, so he should fit right in with the various alien species in the film.
– Did The Walking Dead almost kill Carol in season 3? Yup.
– And, finally, Chuck Dixon just shared some unused art from the cancelled Archie series “The Governator,” staring – you guessed it – Arnold Schwartzenegger. Enjoy, folks.
