– DC announced a trifecta of exclusive signings today, all three of which are pretty great signs of DC’s future going forward. Artists Evan “Doc” Shaner and Jesus Merino, along with writer Steve Orlando, have all signed on to exclusive contracts for DC. What is of note, to your humble Multiversity staffer, is the language that uses “DC/Vertigo” together. Could this be a way to prevent the exclusive signees from doing creator owned work outside of the DC/Vertigo/WB umbrella? In the past, DC/Marvel exclusivity tended to mean that you could still do creator owned work at a place like Image or Dark Horse. Could this be a change in that? I don’t know, but it is interesting. Congrats to all three!
– Rumors had been floating for some time, but it is now official: Finn Jones is playing Iron Fist for his Netflix series. The show’s description reads as follows: “Jones will play Daniel Rand, who returns to New York City after being missing for years.” “He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.” No release date has been announced.
– After many, including myself, assumed that the cast of Legends of Tomorrow would change in Season 2, reports are saying that isn’t the case – but the show is potentially adding a ‘major’ DC character in the season 1 finale, who will lead directly into season 2. While I dig the show’s cast, I sort of hoped the show would have a more fluid lineup going forward.
– Valiant, a day ahead of C2E2, released a list of the 15 new and ongoing exclusive contracts they have out there for talent, which consist entirely of art talent, both line artists and colorists. I’ve never heard of an exclusive colorist before, but it is a pretty cool notion. Check out CBR for the list.
– Captain America: Civil War could have up the three post-credit scenes. Why not just make them real scenes, instead of making us all sit awkwardly in a theater while the hardworking ushers just want to clean up?
– And, finallly, the print edition of the “Adventures of Supergirl” digital first comic has been moved up, from June to May.
