Casting reports are coming in about the upcoming New Mutants film, which seemingly will boast a returning James McAvoy and Alexandra Shipp playing Professor X and Storm, respectively, as well as newcomers Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane and Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik. I’m certain the film will boast more returning X-stars, as well as a slew of new actors, so stay tuned for more as it becomes available.

– Call it the Deadpool affect or the Dawn of Justice corollary, but Suicide Squad is undergoing some reshoots in an attempt to bring some additional humor to the film. It isn’t surprising that, due to the near universal critical scorn Batman V Superman received and the love that Deadpool has been receiving that Warner Bros. might want to adjust their plan, but this seems like a mistake, doesn’t it?

– Despite shilling his ass off on TV about the film alongside Geoff Johns a few months ago, it appears that Kevin Smith didn’t enjoy Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice much either. Of course, he did love his pal Ben Affleck’s portrayal of the Bat.

– Random House and DC will be publishing a series of young adult novels based on their characters, starting with Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, and Catwoman. Comic Book Resources has the full list of writers, none of whom I am personally familiar with.

– It appears that Riverdale is beginning to take shape over at the CW.

– To no one’s surprise, Gwen Stacy is part of the ‘Dead No More’ crossover at Marvel.

– Patrick J. Adams is joining Legends of Tomorrow in this year’s season finale, before becoming a series regular next year. The only question is, who will he be playing? People seem to think Booster Gold or Batman Beyond. Either would be pretty dope.

– Artist ACO, late of “Midnighter,” has redesigned Deathstroke’s costume for ‘Rebirth,’ and it is pretty great.

– Attention James Johnston: Mike Quackenbush is trying to write IDW’s “M.A.S.K.” comic. This seems directly up your alley, Jim Jam.

– In an interesting companion to yesterday’s news that there are petitions to remove Zack Snyder from the DC Cinematic Universe, other fans want to see even more violence from a movie about superheroes, and are petitioning for Warner Bros to release the R-rated cut of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in theaters. I saw enough kids scared to death of the PG-13 cut, thank you.

– And, finally, Adam Savage went incognito as Hellboy at the Silicon Valley Comic Con. I don’t know what’s more unusual – a) that someone heard of the Silicon Valley Comic Con or b) that Adam Savage wasn’t mugging for any camera in eye shot.
