Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– A day after the poster debut, Doctor Strange now gets its first trailer. As it might have been expected, the film is an origin story with, on the surface, very few ties to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. While, yes, we are all sick of origin story films, this is an entirely new part of the MCU, and I could see why a proper introduction was felt to be the best course of action. The film debuts this November.
– In other Marvel film news, the upcoming Spider-Man film gets both a title and a logo. The title is fine; the logo seems a little ‘high school powerpoint presentation,’ doesn’t it? What is exciting, however, is that Michael Keaton is reportedly being considered for a villain role. And Michael Keaton is the best.
– Have you wondered why – besides casual misogyny – why the Wasp isn’t featured in Captain America: Civil War? IGN did too, and Ant-Man director Peyton Reed says that Civil War was too crowded, and that he wants to give Wasp more of a spotlight. Now, not that it isn’t a crowded film, but a minor role wouldn’t have hurt, and could have positioned Evangeline Lily for an even more important part in the Ant-Man sequel.
– Good news for the man in a coma since 1993 – Warren Beaty is still going to make a sequel to Dick Tracy. I unironically love that film, so I can’t wait!
– One of the show’s executive producer claims that Luke Cage will be Marvel’s The Wire. That seems like a lofty idea, and one that won’t be easy to achieve. It also seems borderline reductionistic, comparing Marvel’s first African American character-led TV show to, perhaps, the most lauded African American character-led TV show of all time.
– Now you have even less reason to travel to San Diego – Hall H presentations will be streamed online this year. Hooray for shutins!
– Actor John Barrowman, currently playing Malcolm Merlyn on Arrow and co-writing the “Dark Archer” digital first comic for DC, will continue to write comics featuring characters he’s played on TV. Barrowman will be cowriting the new “Torchwood” series from Titan.
– Did you ever doubt that Batman had his own branded underwear?
– And, finally, Rob Liefeld gets it.
