Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.
– Here’s the first official trailer for The Killing Joke. I can’t tell if it’s the trailer’s willingness to show every part of the movie or the fact that I know more about this comic than I do my own family, but my initial impression is that this is the most thorough adaptation possible. I feel like I just re-read the whole comic from that minute and a half trailer.
– Mark Millar sold the movie rights of two comics, “Super Crooks” and “American Jesus”. Water is still wet.
– Marvel’s backpedaling harder than Lance Armstrong regarding the backlash against the ridiculously whitewashed Doctor Strange trailer. Now, they’re claiming that Tilda Swinton’s Ancient One isn’t meant to be Asian, she’s Celtic. Considering this is absolutely something they just made up in response to major criticism, there’s no telling how this plays outs in the movie. Maybe they dub a bad Irish accent over all of Swinton’s lines. Maybe she calls in her cousin for backup.
– Marvel released a new trailer for whatever Mosaic is, this time featuring Spider-Man. I’d write more about this, but thinking about “Civil War II” already makes me nervous.
