– “Invincible,” the Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker co-created series from Image/Skybound, is being adapted into a film by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The pair, known for their recent Preacher adaptation, as well as films like This is the End and The Interview, plan on writing, directing, and producing the film. Kirkman is also producing – no word on whether Walker or current artist Ryan Ottley are involved.
– Faith Erin Hicks will see her The Nameless City trilogy adapted into an animated television series by Frederator Studios (Adventure Time, The Fairly Odd Parents). Each book will make up four episodes of a 12 episode series, the first four of which will drop in the fall of 2018.
– Artist and co-creator Michael Lark is taking a break “Lazarus,” but the series won’t be gone for long – “Lazarus X+66,” a six issue mini-series, will fill the gap during his break. Each issue of this series will focus on a character from the existing story and drawn by a different artist (including Steve Lieber and Tristan Jones), but all will be written by series writer/co-creator Greg Rucka, and Lark will have input on each story. Rucka and Lark expect the series to resume next Spring with a storyline called ‘Fracture.’
– This morning Scott Snyder’s Twitter account revealed more news about the summer Batman centric story “Dark Nights: Metal” is not just a Batman Family event, but a DC Universe wide story with Wonder Woman and Superman promos soon to be revealed. Scott Says he and Greg Capullo get to play with “all the toys” in this story, including the Teen Titans, Green Arrow, and Mera to name a few. The six issue series will be all Snyder and Capullo with no fill in artists. Snyder said the story will be friendly to all readers, promising a convenient jumping on point for folks.
– Netflix has announced the release date for Defenders: August 18 2017. The miniseries brings together Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones, and will feature Sigourney Weaver as the main villain.
– “Wytches” has been on hiatus for some time now, but Jock’s Instagram has some hope for fans.
– Lost in the reactions to the diversity comments at the Marvel Retailer summit was the announcement that after “Secret Empire,” there will be no major, company wide, crossover for 18 months, in response to complaints of event burnout.
– Nickelodeon is planning to do a 90 minute Invader Zim made for TV movie. The original voice talent Richard Horvitz, Rikki Simons, Andy Berman, and Melissa Fahn will return in the original roles.
– The finalists for the Hugo Awards were announced yesterday, and the six “Best Graphic Story” nominees all come from Marvel and Image: “Black Panther,” “Monstress,” “Paper Girls, “Ms. Marvel,” “Saga,” and “The Vision” all got nominated. Congratulations to all the nominees – our money is on “The Vision.”
–Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Ming Na Wen< reassured fans that an injury that landed her in a wheelchair won’t keep Calvary from being part of the remainder of season 4.
