Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.
– After “Midnighter” wrapped up in May, many, including yours truly, were wondering when we would see Midnighter – or, really, any WildStorm character – again. Well, we now have an answer: October. In October, the “Midnighter” creative team of Steve Orlando (scripts) and ACO (covers), along with interior artist Fernando Blanco, will be bringing us a new, six issue miniseries: “Apollo and Midnighter.” The two characters, two of the first gay superheroes, and perhaps the most prominent gay couple in all of comics, were part of “Stormwatch,” both in the WildStorm universe and in the New 52, but Apollo hasn’t been seen in quite some time.
– Writer/fanboy/provocateur Max Landis, fresh off of writing “Superman: American Alien” for DC, is launching a new series at Image/Skyboard, “Green Valley,” illustrated by Giuseppe Camuncoli. The nine-issue limited series appears to be a mixture of grand fantasy and the modern era.
– The full ‘Divided We Stand’ Marvel NOW! image has been released, and the dividing line appears to be far more age-based than previously hinted at. While little is known about the initiative thus far, this collection of characters certainly has me interested.
– There is a Star Trek Humble Bundle going right now and, if you’re even a casual fan of these characters, I can’t think of a better way to spend $25 than to get over $400 worth of comics out of it.
– Two issues of “Superman/Wonder Woman” that were previously cancelled, will now be collected as part of a hardcover collecting the “Superman: Savage Dawn” crossover, due out in October.
– Tom “Draco Malfoy” Felton is joining The Flash as a fellow CSI, and Arrow just cast Hal Jordan’s first cousin. It should be quite an interesting year on the CW.
– Spider-Man: Homecoming has reportedly cast a trio of actors in unnamed roles: Tyne Daley, Garcelle Beauvais and Tiffany Espensen.
– And, finally, Captain America: Civil War will be available for home viewing this September.
