– Back in 2012, Paul Cornell launched his UFO mythology/political thriller series, “Saucer Country” with Ryan Kelly through Vertigo. It was cancelled after 14 issues. Cornell never gave up hope. “‘Saucer Country’ is a passion project for me,” Cornell said in an interview with Newsarama. “I’ve been determined to get it finished. I get asked about it every week.” Now, it looks like that’s going to happen, because IDW has announced they will be picking up the series starting in 2017 under the title, “Saucer State”. They also plan to re-release the 14 original issues before leaping into the new series.

– Although Grant Morrison and Vanesa R. Del Rey’s “Sinatoro” book from Black Mask Studios has yet to release, Universal Television has already picked up the rights for a series. Morrison joins Chris and Paul Weitz as they adapt the story of a “necronaut who is sent into the afterlife to save Earth from destruction.” The pilot script is being written by Adam Armus, Kay Foster, and Grant Morrison with the Weitzes and Morrison set up as producers. “‘Sinatoro’ turns American pop culture into a whole new mythology. It’s about life, death, sex, romance and everything in between,” Morrison says. Though all these pieces are in place, the team has yet to actually sell the project to a studio.

– Gabriel Luna has been cast as Robbie Reyes in the upcoming season of ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. “When the Spirit of Vengeance rides into S.H.I.E.L.D., it’ll change everything,” Head of Marvel TV and executive producer Jeph Loeb claims.

– Reports from the IDW panel at San Diego Comic Con claim that The Misfits will be soon getting their own spinoff comic, written by Kelly Thompson. The series comes out from the current ongoing “Jem and the Holograms” title from Thompson. While no artist has been announced for this Misfits book, the covers will be done by M. Victoria Robado. It’s set to release later this year.

– Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment have tapped Will Beall as the latest writer for the Aquaman movie. Known for Gangster Squad and the upcoming Training Day TV show, Beall is working from a treatment by director James Wan and Geoff Johns.

– Finally, check out the comics panel from the Star Wars Celebration Europe.
