Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– From the annals of “pimping my friend’s work that also happens to be newsworthy,” Multiversity alum Chad Bowers, along with newcomer Jim Towe, are the new creative team for “Youngblood,” which is relaunching for the book’s 25th anniversary. Rob Liefeld announced the new creative team in a video interview, and the artwork looks totally different than what you’d expect when you hear “Youngblood.” Liefeld, a guy who has started to get some critical love after years of being a bit of a punchline (often times unfairly), seems to be a nice dude with a totally infectious energy, and he seems really into this team/relaunch.
In the interest of full disclosure, I would buy “Brian’s a Dickhead,” a prestige-format, $7.99 a month comic that just makes fun of me non-stop if Chad was writing it. He’s a great writer and a better dude. Congrats, Chad!
– The lineup for the upcoming New Mutants film has been announced, and there’s not a real surprise in the mix: Cannonball, Sunspot, Warlock, Moonstar, Wolfsbane, and Magik. The film is being helmed by the same folks who brought us The Fault in Our Stars, which is unexpected, but interesting.
– “Wonder Woman” artist Liam Sharp has gone DC exclusive. Congrats, Liam!
– Republican Vice Presidential candidate Mike Pence used to draw political comics for his school newspaper, and they are as bland as he is anti-woman.
– Karl Kesel and Alec Morgan are launching a new Battlestar Galactica comic, “Gods and Monsters,” come November for Dynamite.
– Retailers told Newsarama that DC Rebirth has been a much, much bigger hit than “Civil War II” has been for Marvel. All I have is anecdotal evidence, but I’ve noticed that as well, in terms of hype and positive discussion surrounding the book.
– And, finally, Kyle Anderson at the Nerdist posits an unpopular theory: Marvel Studios and the Fox X-Men films should stay separate.
