– After seemingly stabilizing after the rumored departure of star Channing Tatum, there appears to be trouble for Gambit once again. Director Rupert Wyatt has left the film, citing a delay in the start date as the reason for his withdrawing from the project. Wyatt said, “I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project. I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film.” This, seemingly, puts the Fall 2016 release date in serious question.

– DC Entertainment President Diane Nelson says that there won’t be a shared DC television/film universe for fear of ‘handcuffing’ creators. Nelson goes on to cite the different tones of projects like Gotham, Teen Titans Go,, and Supergirl as a reason why a shared universe wouldn’t necessarily work. While I appreciate the idea of letting creators run free, this seems more like a lack of oversight and planning than anything else – if DC had realized how big of a hit The Flash would be, don’t you think they’d have held off on casting Ezra Miller as Barry Allen on the big screen?

– There has been a bunch of Marvel TV casting news this week, including the return of Scott Glenn as ‘the Stick’ in Daredevil Season Two, and Simone Missick as Misty Knight on Luke Cage.

– Will we actually get to see the classic Punisher logo next season on Daredevil? I still bet not.

– Marvel has filed a copyright for ‘Lockjaw’ for a number of non-comics items, leading Bleeding Cool to surmise that Marvel is lining up Lockjaw to be the next Rocket Racoon.

– And, finally, CBR is truly fighting the good fight by reprinting a year’s worth of the “Cool-O-Meter,” a bizarre (and hilariously dated) feature from early 90s Marvel comics.
