Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.
– Despite the CW saying it doesn’t want another superhero show right now, that doesn’t mean that DC isn’t pitching shows to other networks – and not just DC, but Mr. CW/DC himself, Greg Berlanti, is reportedly pitching “Black Lightning” as a series. Personally, I love hearing this, as I’m both a fan of the character and believe that both TV and comics could use a more diverse set of heroes than we’ve gotten recently. My note question is this: wouldn’t Static Shock make a bit more sense?
– In case you were worried that Spider-Man: Homecoming wouldn’t feature enough mugging, fear not: Happy Hogan will be in the film.
– Stan Lee has gone on record with his least favorite Marvel cinematic casting choice. Personally, I’m shocked it isn’t the lost looking – yet lying and money grubbing – old man who shows up all the time unannounced.
– We now know that – along with Salvador Larocca joining the art team – Marvel’s “MU” stands for “Monsters Unleashed.” Whether or not this is a Scooby Doo tie in remains to be seen.
– The new Legends of Tomorrow teaser gives a brief glimpse at Stargirl and, by golly, she looks exactly like Stargirl.
– Valiant has named Hunter Gorinson their new Vice President of Marketing & Communications – congrats, Hunter!
– The Green Hornet is returning to Dynamite in a four issue miniseries from writer David Liss and “Army of Darkness: Furious Road” artist Kewber Baal in December.
– “Revolutionaries” is the new Hasbro supergroup book, which is a pretty neat concept.
– The Nerdist is asking the important questions, like: is the Flash fast enough to launch a rocket?
– And, finally, they better not stick New Jersey with a fucking joke Avenger.
