– Legendary creator Al Plastino, the man who first illustrated Supergirl AND the Legion of Super-Heroes, has passed away at 91. It’s a huge loss, and especially ill-timed given the recent controversy with some of his JFK related art showing up in auction (which he had donated to the Kennedy Library). There’s never a good time, though. Best wishes to all of Plastino’s family and friends in this especially trying time, and I hope with this in mind everything gets sorted out with his JFK related original art.

– Actor Frank Grillo shared that Crossbones, the character he is actually playing in the upcoming “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” could have more of a role in future Marvel films. Given how much I enjoy both Grillo and Crossbones, I fully support this. Especially considering he’s not interested in appearing in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which I wouldn’t watch anyways.

– Heat Vision has a first look at Bleeding Cool’s Top 100 power list in comics, as they share the top 10 creators and industry types. Included are the folks who run Marvel (four of the top 10), Dan Didio at DC, Robert Kirkman and Eric Stephenson at Image, the CEO of ComiXology, and two people who are only creators: Scott Snyder and Jonathan Hickman. Looking forward to seeing where I rank in the top 100 (JK (but seriously (jk))), and to the rest of the list as a whole.

Contribute to a good cause and help Stan Sakai and his wife Sharon. She’s going through some serious health problems, and the Comic Art Professional Society is setting up a fundraiser to help them out.

– Hey look! Kelly Sue DeConnick put up a six page preview of Pretty Deadly #2 if you’re into that sort of thing.

– I get tired of Ales Ross covers sometimes because they often feel samesy, but honestly, this Daredevil #1 cover Comic Book Resources shared is pretty damn radical.

– Want to support a great cause? Check out Uprise Books, a fantastic literacy project, and support them if only because without Uprise, you might not even be reading this today. Uprise Books’ honcho Justin Stanley resuscitated our site and brought us back online not because he had to, but because he’s a nice guy. That, my friends, is greatness in person form. Who doesn’t want to support someone like that and the cause he is all about.
