Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.
– Grey’s Anatamoy and The Good Wife star Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be playing Negan, set to appear in this season’s finale next April, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the type of actor who would be perfect for comic book films, but keeps getting cast in roles where he dies before the story starts (Watchmen, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, so it’ll be neat to see him take on a role that actually sticks around for all the insane action. Speaking of which, recent developments for the show mean (spoiler) Negan’s big moment with Lucille might not happen with the character it happened to in the comic. There. That was the vaguest way I could have put that.
– Kazu Kibushi’s “Amulet” series might get a big screen adaptation from Fox, as Deadline/ confirmed yesterday. “Amulet” focuses on a pair of siblings trying to save their mother by following her into a portal in their house that leads them to a strange land. It’s pretty darn good, and Temple Hill, the studio in charge of every other young adult film you’ve seen in the past few years just got ahold of it. So expect to see Amulet everywhere starting 2017.
– IGN got the hot scoop that Cullen Bunn and Salva Espin are working on a new Deadpool miniseries: “Deadpool & The Merc$ For Money.” Described, among other things, as something like The Dirty Dozen, “The Merc$ For Money” focuses on the new team of ex-villains that Deadpool has recruited in his latest series. Check out the full interview for more from Cullen Bunn, as well as some pages from Salva Espin.
– The latest Jessica Jones trailer was awesome. Who would have guessed. I’m going to go get into a cryopod and wait for November 20th to roll around.
– Robert Kirkman and Skybound Studios have signed a deal with LA production company Insurrection Media to develop more genre television shows, according to Variety. While nothing is set in concrete yet, this means an Invincible show, right? Robert Kirkman’s been a household name for like, twenty years at this point. When are we pulling the trigger on a show where a superhero dad beats his superhero son within an inch of his life. And when will Robert Kirkman check out my headshots?
