Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.

– Joss Whedon was stopped on the red carpet at a charity event, and had a few interesting things to say about the upcoming slate of Marvel films. Of most interest is that he confirmed, more or less, the earlier report from Idris Elba that both Heimdall and Loki would be making appearances in the film. He also said that the upcoming slate of films is daunting, and that the fluctuating state of license rights makes the film universe a more difficult thing to build than you may expect.
– Zach Snyder is attempting something interesting with the score to Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice – he has two different composers working on the film. That isn’t to say they’ll be composing together – quite the opposite, in fact. Hans Zimmer is scoring the Superman half, with Junkie XL taking the Bat-side. While this could lead to chaos, it is at least an interesting idea that implies, perhaps, Synder will be taking more chances with this film than he did its antecedent, Man of Steel.
– As if there weren’t enough reasons to really, really enjoy “Gotham Academy,” Bleeding Cool points out that this week’s #2 features Bookworm, a character from the Batman ’66 television show. This is after Aunt Harriet cameo’d last issue. ’66 forever, yo.
– David Brothers recently came across a letter Todd MacFarlane had written in the back of “Spawn” #1 all about respect for creators, and transcribed it on his website. It is incredible to think that when Image started, they had a legitimate chance at getting Jack Kirby to work there.
– Kate Beaton, on her Tumblr, talks about letting go of some of the stress/frustration she felt when she saw her work re-drawn and re-purposed for memes.
– And, finally, Jaxxon makes his triumphant return. For a kid who grew up reading the original Marvel “Star Wars” comics, this is simply the best cover I’ve seen all month.
