Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.

– Andrew MacLean, a truly great comic creator, writes about why writers and artists should not make their comics available for any sort of Spotify model for comics. It’s a very interesting read, and while I’m sure many would try and combat it, his logic is sound. He’s definitely right about one thing: this is an eventuality, not something that might happen. Here’s hoping whoever does make it work finds a way to better pay the creators who craft the books people are reading.

– You guysssss, Eric Powell’s fantastic “The Goon: Chinatown” is already beautiful, and now it’s going to get an Artist’s Edition. Rejoice, rejoice!

– If The Rock isn’t announced as Black Adam on Saturday, this will be one element of the biggest and strangest one man misinformation campaign ever seen.

– Did you read “The Wicked + The Divine” #2? Great, right? Kieron Gillen provides writer notes for that issue, and I highly recommend you read them (after you read the issue of course).

– Rob Liefeld’s reactions to reading the comic Ed Piskor made either about him or in his style is literally the most charming thing ever. The second face Liefeld makes singlehandedly convinces me I’d love the guy in person.

– Stan Lee canceled his appearance at SDCC this weekend with a bad case of laryngitis costing him his voice, albeit temporarily. Here’s to a speedy, recovery Stan.

– This has nothing to do with anything, but I love Benedict Cumberbatch and that guy amongst many skills is great with voices. Case in point? He randomly did a Gollum voice at SDCC and by god it was amazing. Unconnected with anything, but is it just me or has the news from SDCC so far been kind of meh?

– Lastly, today at San Diego Comic Con is the 2014 Eisner Awards, and as you may know, Multiversity is nominated in the category “Best Comics-Related Periodical/Journalism.” Being nominated is an honor that each and every one of us couldn’t be more proud of, but I’ll be totally honest: I’d really love to win. Here’s hoping, but we’ll find out tonight, and good luck to all of the nominees.
