Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.
– First up, we have a new Suicide Squad and… do I have to talk about this? It features all your favourite elements to the film: zero indication of what the story is about outside the basic premise, zero attempt at being actually funny despite the rumours of humour-injecting reshoots, a weird focus on Batman who isn’t even the focus of the movie and Harley Quinn existing to be a sex object. Y’know, the usual WB tripe.
– To wash that out of our mouths, let’s get some rapid fire Marvel film news:
- Looks like Ryan Coogler, director and screenwriter of Black Panther helped develop the character for Civil War
- Look out for announcement of who will be directing and who will be starring in Captain Marvel some time this summer. Maybe at SDCC, perhaps?
- Iron Fist has added David Wenham as Harold Meachum. In other news: David Wenham is still acting. I don’t think I’ve seen him in anything since Lord Of The Rings.
- According to Charlie Cox, The Defenders will film later this year. This is surprising, but given that he also mentions that he knows nothing of Daredevil Season Three maybe we’ll be seeing Iron Fist and The Defenders as Marvel/Netflix’s two outputs next year?
– Finally, take a look at some of Ethan Van Sciver’s artwork for the “DC: Rebirth Special” which will kick off the event.
