– It appears that some vague cast descriptions have been coming out for Arrow season 3, and see if any of these sound familiar to you:
‘DANIEL’ | Though Daniel could be a fake name to throw off spoilerholics, this 20something gent — a major recurring character for Season 3 — is a handsome, enigmatic and highly intelligent entrepreneur developing groundbreaking technology. (Picture a business magnate in Ryan Gosling’s body.) Though exuding charm and confidence in public, he privately harbors a tragic past that will drive him to become a tech-powered superhero. Watch for this formidable fella to be a love interest for Felicity and a rival of Oliver’s – both personally and professionally.
‘SETH’ | A well-educated criminal with grand ambitions and a knack for chemistry, this potentially recurring character gains power over his enemies by exposing them to a drug that drains their willpower. Oh, and he is very much a physical match for The Arrow.
TOSHI | Majorly recurring in (at least) the Hong Kong flashbacks, Toshi (late 20s/early 30s) will serve as Oliver’s teacher and handler, and eventually become a friend. A well-trained operative, skilled in weaponry, combat and intelligence gathering, he is also a devoted father and husband.
AKIKO | Toshi’s wife is another of Oliver’s Hong Kong caretakers, and is herself highly skilled in martial arts.
Also, hopefully I have been cast as Felicity’s new love interest. Sorry, wife and child!
– It appears that, just in time for Batman V. Superman and Captain American III, another classic superhero franchise will be returning: the Powerpuff Girls! A new series is set to debut in 2016.
– If you live in Phoenix or Los Angeles, you owe it to yourself to at least try – on Thursday and Saturday, respectively, Uber, the app-based car service, will be sending a very special car as a member of their local fleet: Optimus Prime. Yes, you heard me right. That sound you hear is Chad Bowers re-routing his Heroescon flight through Phoenix.
– Dynamite has announced a new comic sequel to a TV show – “The Bionic Woman Season 4,” written by Brandon Jerwa, with art by David T. Cabrera. They also announced that Frank Tieri and Cezar Razek will be working on a new Red Sonja miniseries, “The Black Tower.”
– There is a new Batman film exhibit at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour, and from the sound of CBR’s review, it shouldn’t be missed if you’re in the Los Angeles metro area.
– At this point, I assume most people only know the name Danger Mouse as a producer of bands like the Black Keys and The Good, the Bad, and the Queen, but he took the name from a British cartoon series, which also played on Nickelodeon in the 80s. Well, that show is being rebooted for 52 new 11 minute episodes by Ben Ward of Horrible Histories.
– And, finally, here is a fan letter, published in the back of “Fantastic Four” #20, by none other than George R.R. Martin. There is no way to subtly insert this joke, so I’ll just say it: one of the times I’ve laughed the hardest in my life was when Tom Scharpling referred to Martin as George “Railroad” Martin on The Best Show on WFMU.
