– For a few months now, there has been mystery around which Marvel film we would be getting come May 2016. Well, it appears the mystery has been solved: Captain America 3. While this is far from a surprise, it is nice to see Marvel feeling so confident about The Winter Soldier‘s success.
– Similarly, it has been revealed that one of the stars of The Winter Soldier, Sebastian Stan, had signed a 9-picture deal, a full three more than Cap himself, Chris Evans, signed. Now, this may just be Marvel locking up less-expensive actors to longer deals, or perhaps, setting up a Phase 4 with folks like the Iron Patriot and the Winter Soldier as the focal points, not their more famous brethren. Time will tell.
– I have heard this rumor before, but never put quite in this way: at DC, there seem to be “Dan (DiDio) Books” and “Geoff (Johns) Books.” Geoff books are more reverent of the past, whereas Dan books try new things. On the surface, Dan books seem like a more interesting proposition, but when considering how those books have fared, you’ll see that the constant editorial tinkering and the “anything goes” attitude didn’t extend to good stories.
– A Geoff book, at least as of #32, is “Superman,” and CBR has the exclusive cover reveal, drawn by John Romita Jr.
– The Top 20 bookstore-sold graphic novels for February 2014 included not a single release from Marvel or DC. This is fascinating stuff, and is yet another feather in the Image cap, with them taking 7 of the Top 20 spots.
– And, finally, maybe J. Jonah Jameson was actually on to something.
