– Rachel Edidin talks about the Carol Corps, and how this once lower tier character is fundamentally changing the face of fandom. It’s a really great piece, with superb insight into how powerful that movement really is.

– There isn’t any real news stories out there about this, but Thrillbent announced that they are going to launch their own app AND Mark Waid is going to be releasing more Empire through Thrillbent. Double exciting!

– In case you were wondering, very special t-shirt vendor at Wondercon, this is why we can’t have nice things. What is wrong with people.

– Bryan Singer did not appear at Wondercon this weekend, with writer/producer Simon Kinberg replacing him there during the “X-Men: Days of Future Past” panel. It’s not surprising, given the allegations that face him, but apparently he wasn’t even mentioned. Probably a smart move by Fox, but darkness now surrounds that already fairly gloomy film.

– The Hugo nominees have been announced for 2014, and the world of comics earned a lot of love, including Fiona Staples and sometimes comic artist Daniel Dos Santos earning nominations for Best Professional Artist, and Saga getting some love in the Best Graphic Story category. Congrats to all the nominees, and good luck to the deserving team on “Saga”.

– Todd Allen talks about the awesome that is the latest Flash Gordon #1 from Jeff Parker, Doc Shaner and Jordie Bellaire. You should really buy that book.

– Kelly Sue DeConnick came across her first “Pretty Deadly” cosplayers, and the experience very nearly killed her.
