– After a few months of various rumors, it appears that CBS has locked up its Supergirl – Melissa Benoist, best known as a late-era Glee cast member will be playing Kara Zor-El on the new CBS show, already given a series commitment for next year. The show, according to multiple reports, will take place in the same universe as The Flash and Arrow, and promises to cross over with the two shows. Personally, I have never seen Benoist perform, so if you have, please let us know what you think of the casting in the comments.

– Bryan Singer tweeted out the names of three new cast members of X-Men: Apocalypse: so, meet the new Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), and Cyclops (Tye Sheridan). Or, as Topless Robot put it: “Three Actors I Never Heard of Before to Play Cyclops, Storm and Jean Grey in Next X-Movie.”

– After Tom Hardy dropped out of Suicide Squad, it was rumored that Jake Gyllenhaal might step in to take it place. No dice, it appears. The film is nearing production, so don’t be surprised if a new star is cast quite soon.

– The Latino Review rumor mill continues, this time turning its attention to Aquaman. Two possible directors have been named as frontrunners: Mud director Jeff Nichols and 300: Rise of an Empire director Noam Murro. In addition, they tease Karl Urban as being the antagonist as the film – perhaps playing Black Manta?

– The great Chiwetel Ejiofor is, reportedly, up for a role in Doctor Strange, although no other details are really shared. The Hollywood Reporter hints that it might be Baron Mordo or Wong, although both characters, historically, have not been black characters, although that by no means suggests that they could not be in the MCU.

– Much like yesterday’s “End of Days” announcement, Marvel has set a banner of “Battleworld” that will run across certain titles while “Secret Wars” runs. “Battleworld” titles will be taking place on the surface of the ‘one remaining world’ of the series, and will be the most action-packed of the series, or so the press release leads us to believe.

– Oscar Isaac, the man who would be Apocalypse, has apparently already had a cast of his head made for the Apocalypse costume, and promises the film will feature practical and CGI effects.

– Dynamite has brought back a couple of their more successful recent releases – “Masks” and “Uncanny” – for second runs starting in April.

– Tim and Steve Seeley have penned a new hardcover book for Dark Horse, “The Art of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe,” a 300+ page book that looks at all aspects of He-Man art, from action figures to comics to the television show.

– Our pal Scott Kowalchuk was featured on his local newscast about his “dream job” drawing “Batman ’66.”

– And, finally, Star-Lord and Captain America have made a Super Bowl bet that nerds everywhere seem to think is pretty awesome.
