Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email me at david@multiversitycomics.com.
– Hitfix shares a liveblog of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. from the Television Critics Association press tour, in which a gaggle of reps including Joss and Jed Whedon and Clark Gregg showed up to talk. While there weren’t any mind blowing details shared, it is a fun read with a lot of cool details about the show. Check it out!
– File this one under shocking: word from Boston Comic Con is that Dan Didio implied that retailers have ordered well past the level they were originally anticipating for their special Villains Month covers. Given that anecdotal evidence I had heard was that orders were going to be reduced dramatically by some larger retailers, I find this very surprising.
– Samuel L. Jackson joins the cast of Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons’ “Secret Service” as the villain, because why the fuck not. He may not look or seem like the nerdy villain from the mini-series, but he is super badass so who cares
– Faith Erin Hicks shares comics of her first experience at San Diego Comic Con and her most recent one, and the results are wonderful, like pretty much all of her work.
– Winner of darkest line of conversation about comics for the weekend goes to: Robot 6’s article about Jeremy Holt’s (not very contextualized) article about artists and pay in creator-owned comics. I don’t particularly agree with Holt’s line of thinking, but I don’t particularly agree with sensationalizing the comments in such a way. But, you know, hits.
