Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.
– Another day, another pair of “Secret Wars” announcements, as Kelly Sue DeConnick, Kelly Thompson and David Lopez are bringing us “Captain Marvel and the Carol Corps” and Marc Guggenheim and Carlos Pacheco are pairing for a “Squadron Sinister” book. The former is the one of the two I’m more interested in, but man, Marvel’s really going hard down the “let’s throw shit at the wall and see what sticks” route.
– It looks like DC will be releasing free 8-page stories to introduce their new books and new directions in May, all via ComiXology, the DC site, and other platforms, which is super great. I think that is really, really awesome to be honest.
– Apparently “Batman Beyond” will feature a new man under the mask, as Terry McGinnis will no longer be under the cowl. Who will? Best guess? Tim Drake, as Bleeding Cool also thinks. We shall see soon.
– Over at Wired, they shared five comics to read before you watching “Powers”. While it’s a neat list, it’s worth noting you don’t actually have to read them before watching “Powers”. All are Oeming and Bendis books that have nothing to do with “Powers”, save for the first volume of “Powers” itself, so…you know, read them because they’re good, but no order of operations necessary.
