– Although the film is still six or so months away, we are starting to see some serious viral marketing for Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice centered around Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor. The most significant piece of viral marketing is the profile on Fortune.com, which doubles as both marketing and fan appeasement, as the article does a number of things to make the character make sense. The article presents a pretty clear picture of who this Luthor is (son of an immigrant, a bit of a war hawk, vegan), and also drops hints to lots of other bits of DC lore.

The second bit is a clever bit of marketing that will, no doubt, not live up to its promise: LexCorp is reportedly going to offer free wifi at New York Comic Con this weekend. While this is a fun idea, the Javits Center has tried to provide wifi during the con before, and it crashed almost instantly. Who knows, maybe an evil genius can figure it out.

– Yesterday, ahead of its Netflix debut in a few weeks, Marvel released a brand new, free 12 page “Jessica Jones” digital comic. The book, by character co-creators Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos, takes places in the Marvel/Netflix TV Universe, and should help to build some more hype about the show. This is a very, very smart idea.

– In what could be the final death knell for the Dark Horse Digital Comics app, Dark Horse has announced that all single issues will now debut same day on comiXology and Amazon. I suppose Dark Horse could keep its app going, but at some point, they’re going to have to shutter it. But what will happen to all those Mignolaverse and Star Wars fans who bought the huge bundles?

Powers continues to expand their cast, this time adding Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica‘s Cylon Number Six) to the show as Agent Lange.

– A few months ago, Dynamite Comics announced that they would be opening a New York office as part of their expansion plan. Well, today, they added former DC/Marvel editor Rachel Pinnelas as the first new editor to work out of those offices. Pinnelas was an assistant editor at Marvel on series like “Avengers,” whereas she worked in DC’s Collected Editions department.

– CBR did a really great piece detailing the 30-year evolution of how Frank Miller draws Superman. Without context, it is a little silly to presume that the Superman he drew in 2015 is the same character that he drew in the mid-80s (one clearly is in an alternate universe), but still – an interesting look at how his style has changed/adapted.

– If you want to get the first look at Amadeus Cho as the Totally Awesome Hulk, you better be playing Marvel Puzzle Quest, as he will debut there ahead of his first comics appearance.

– And, finally, i09 put together a nice piece about why Valiant Comics are a good alternative to DC and Marvel right now.
