Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– Here’s a deleted scene from Guardians of the Galaxy where Batista explains his tattoos to Rocket Raccoon and Groot, courtesy of Comic Book Resources. Honestly, it’s super easy to see why this film didn’t make it into the final cut. Batista just breaks down after remembering the deaths of his wife and daughter only for Rocket Raccoon to yell at him which doesn’t exactly jive that well with “O-O-H Child”. At the very least, you get to see what it would look like if Groot was animated like one of those spinning baby GIFs from the 90’s.
– As excited as everyone is for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, some people are questioning why Princess Leia who is SPOILERS Luke’s brother and daughter to Darth VaderEND SPOILERS isn’t doing any Jedi stuff in The Force Awakens. JJ Abrams told
IGN that it was because of her responsibilities to the Rebel army which is such a lie. If Luke “Pre-Joker Mark Hamill” Skywalker could master the Force by jumping in a swamp with Frank Oz on his back, Leia could take time off from army to train her own powers. If there’s a point in the movie where someone throws something at Leia or her crew and she catches it with the Force, having hid it for the past thirty years, I’ll make out with whoever’s cosplaying as Chewbacca at my screening.
– ESPN commissioned a whole bunch of comic artists for their IMPACT25 series, chronicling the twenty five women who made the biggest impact in sports for 2015. It’s a super dope gallery, considering you can check out the pencils compared to the finished artwork. Special shoutout goes to Marguerite Sauvage’s portrait of basketball star Elena Delle Donne.
– DC Comics said that “Batman” #47 would be pushed ahead to next week and then announced that it wouldn’t be and it’s out now today. This is comic news, everybody.
– Here’s the trailer for Lego DC Comics Superheroes – Justice League: Cosmic Clash which is a hell of a title. This movie isn’t the star-studded Lego Batman that’s coming up, but features the Justice League stopping Brainiac’s plans until the Legion of Superheroes shows up and other stuff happens. If I had a nephew or niece who asked me for Lego Batman 3 for Christmas I would give them this movie to remind them they can’t always get what they want.
