Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.
– Congratulations are in order for Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen, as their “Descender,” a month ahead of its first issue’s release, has been optioned for a film by Sony Pictures. This marks the second Image book (after Scott Snyder and Jock’s “Wytches”) to be optioned recently.
– So, John Romita Jr. has redesigned Superman’s costume, giving him fingerless gloves and a yellow belt buckle. Yawn, snooze, barf.
– When we all think Supergirl villain, only one name pops up: Lumberjack, right? Oh wait – Lumberjack is a one-time Wonder Woman villain from 1980? Rory McCann, of Game of Thrones, has been reportedly cast in the role for the pilot of the CBS show.
– Jonathan Hickman gives a great interview to Comic Book Resources about “Secret Wars,” promising payoffs from all of his Marvel work, dating back to “SHIELD” and “Fantastic Four.” I’m in, baby.
– Rose Byrne is returning to her role as Moira MacTaggert in X-Men Apocalypse, which will reportedly take place in the 80s, 20 or so years after X-Men: First Class.
– Marv Wolfman has revealed that he wrote the novelization of Arkham Knight. Both the game and the book are due in July.
– Lego Helicarrier? Don’t mind if I do!
– And, finally, can we please get Terry Crews to play the Silver Surfer? Please?
