– AMC recently ordered a pilot for the long-discussed spinoff to The Walking Dead, and the first breakdowns of the cast have started to appear online. The principle cast appears to be a single mother, her two kids, a single father and his son, and one woman in her ’40s. These are all characters that are original to this series and have no connection to the comic book. Look for the show, if ordered to series, in late 2015 at the earliest.

– Just when he began to think everyone forgot about his birthday, the United States Postal Service got Batman the gift he’s always wanted: commemorative stamps! Happy 75th birthday, Dark Knight!

– Slightly older than Batman is Betty Boop, who is the subject of a new reprint celebrating her 84 years of publication history. The book deals with newspaper strips, and is due out in September of next year.

– Cullen Bunn talks to Newarama in advance of Wednesday’s “Lobo” #1, and says the he understands the frustration fans of the original Lobo feel, by seeing him replaced by the “real” Lobo in the new series.

For the diehard fans, all I can do is say, “I get it!” This isn’t the Lobo you’re familiar with. It’s not the Lobo you grew up loving. And, honestly, it’s not trying to be. There are nods to the previous version of the character here and there, but for the most part this is a completely new guy. If that means you’re not going to read the issue, so be it. You might have hated it. Or you might have liked it. If you do read it, and your still feeling raw about it afterwards, thanks for at least giving the book a chance.

It is nice to see a creator be so level-headed about his book.

– Do you think these DC-licensed t-shirts are a bit sexist? So do a lot of other people. They may be sexist, but they’re certainly ugly!

– Long Beach Comic Con had a display from The Flash, that featured Barry Allen’s board of clues/information relating to his mother’s death. I am sure there are a number of teasers and Easter Eggs for the coming season in there, but none are popping out to me right now.

– If you don’t see this preview of “Gotham Academy,” you’re going to kick yourself. This looks like the book of the fall – check out the preview right now.

– And, finally, if for some reason you weren’t super excited about the print version of James Harvey’s “Masterplasty,” this might sway you. Good God, y’all.
