Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.
– Marvel seems to have decided on a writer for their upcoming Doctor Stange film – Jon Spaihts, the original writer on Prometheus and the writer of the upcoming The Mummy reboot, is in negotiations to write the film, due out as part of Marvel’s Phase III, starting next summer.
– File this under bummer: “The Adventures of Superman,” the DC digital first series that brought together a ton of great talent to tell out of continuity Superman stories, has been cancelled by DC. This follows “Legends of the Dark Knight,” the Batman title doing the same type of stories for Batman, which was cancelled earlier this year. Hopefully, “Sensation Comics,” the new Wonder Woman digital first series, has a longer run.
– There is a new Gotham trailer, and it heavily features both the Penguin to be and the Catwoman to be.
– The cover to San Diego Comic Con’s souvenir book will feature Batman, drawn by DC co-publisher Jim Lee.
– Peep this incredible Jim Rugg variant “Transformers Vs. G.I. Joe” cover. Good lord.
– Is “Batman Unlimited” the new Batman animated series? Signs point to yes.
– In a rare (but awesome) music/comics crossover, the creators of “The Wicked and the Divine,” Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie, were interviewed over at Pitchfork Media.
– If you have ever wondered how Stephen Amell does all those awesome superhero-y things on Arrow, check out his Facebook page, where you get to see him doing all sorts of insane training.
– Wired did a really fun piece on what magazines would look like if superheroes existed in the real world.
– And finally, if this isn’t the most 90’s headline of all time, I don’t know what is.
