Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.
– Although it isn’t really anything, we did get a first look at the Netflix Daredevil series. Spoiler alert: he’s still blind in the show.
– Comic Vine has announced that Tom Taylor will be joined by Marguerite Bennett as co-writer, with Andy Smith, a veteran fill-in artist, stepping in as regular artist. Nicola Scott, the outgoing artist, had this to say about the change:
While you were sleeping…. I’m awake now!
So, news is out; Earth 2 #26 will be my last issue.
I have LOVED working on this book and I want to send a big Thank You toTom Taylor for writing such a great issue to send me on my way. Also, much love to James Robinson and editors Pat McCallum and Mike Cotton. This book really has been a joy, even when the world of Earth 2 was going to shit! Now, I plan on expanding my horizons. DC has been an incredibly supportive and creative home for me for a long time, I’m really proud of everything I’ve produced there and the good relationships I’ve built with everyone. That said, it’s been over two years on Earth 2 and eight with DC Comics, and I feel the time has come for me to take my next step.
To see out my contract, I’ll be doing a short but personal project with my all time favourite character, then…… I’m stepping into the world of Creator Owned for a while. Big announcements coming up and I hope some of you will join me.
Thanks!
– DC has also announced the new creative team for “Catwoman” – i09 columnist Genevieve Valentine will be writing, and on pencils will be Garry Brown (“Five Ghosts,” “Iron Patriot”).
– Good news for people who love creepy ass covers: there will be more issues of “Colder” form Paul Tobin and Juan Ferreya!
– In 1989, Neal Adams created two posters for Hook, the Spielberg directed Peter Pan film, that the studio never used. The film sucks, but these posters are gorgeous.
– Gabriel Hardman, via Bleeding Cool, shares his step by step process for creating a “Star Wars Legacy” page.
– And, finally, upcoming comic book star Alice Cooper has apparently made the White Castle Hall of Fame. Don’t tell Matt Meylikhov – he doesn’t have much love for White Castle.
