“As un-dramatic and uninteresting as it sounds, my version of ‘Inhuman’ wasn’t what they were into and, y’know, it’s their company,” Fraction said, concurring with Alonso’s take on the situation. “It’s a legit case of ‘creative differences’ in spite of everyone’s best intentions. After what? Five or six months where this has been my primary focus and we’re still not on the same page — I can’t say they didn’t try, they can’t say I didn’t try, and at some point, you gotta move on. It happens.
“It didn’t make sense to continue working together on this book,” the writer added. “I was not fired. I am not fired. I am still employed. We are all still friends. ‘Inhuman’ is a really big deal for all involved. You need to be moving as one.”
I’m glad to see it, and it’s good to hear that it was a mutually good decision. I’d be curious as to how exactly the two sides differed in their plans on the books.
– You HAVE to check this out. Mike Holmes draws himself and his cat in the style of over 100 different artists. Anyone who can draw like both Rob Liefeld and Bill Watterson has a gift and the envy of yours truly. I love this so much.
– San Diego Comic Con announced the first 20 guests of next year’s edition, and they include folks like Scott Snyder, Fiona Staples and Don Rosa. Quite the collection for a first 20 if I do say so myself!
– Cartoonist Nate Powell shares his top 10 comics (and albums) of the year, led by Becky Cloonan’s Demeter.
– Speaking of best ofs, USA Today shares their favorite graphic novels and collections of 2013.
– Portland’s most excellent comic retailer Floating World is hosting an event for Snakebomb Comics, as they’re hosting a release party and group art show. If you’re in the Portland area, definitely take a look, and if you ever head over to PDX, make sure to not miss the awesome that is Floating World.
– Image Expo just got a little more awesome, as James Robinson, Paul Azaceta and Josh Williamson were added to their featured guest list.
– Buzzfeed, noted ripoff artists themselves, have strangely been doing the most comprehensive coverage of LeBeouf-gate. Apparently his horrible comics from C2E2 were even ripoffs. Who knew?
